Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

New Yorkers and tourists from around the world know about our skyscrapers, our Statue of Liberty, and our Niagara Falls, but how many of us know that the Empire State is also home to dozens of stately castles. Scott Ian Barry's pictorial Castles of New York introduces readers to no few than twenty-nine of these stately mansions; from Central Park's Belvedere Castle to Olana, Hudson River School artist Frederic Edwin Church's 19th century Moorish concoction. After drawing browsers in with magnificent sunlit photographs, he tells the story of each of these imposing architectural wonders.

From the Publisher
“Castles of New York has much information about castle architecture. But Barry realizes castles are more than buildings. He brings his stone subjects to life by sharing the excitement and satisfaction of his explorations and the lives of the people—and occasional ghosts—who have inhabited the castles.” — Kaatskill Life

“Presented in full color and accompanied by a great array of history alongside it, Castles of New York is a gorgeous coffee table book for any castle lover.” — Library Bookwatch

“…a perfect conversation-starter, easily fitting onto any living room coffee table, or something you can proudly show off to house guests.” — Kingston Daily Freeman
