Poirot is the best detective ever

I really like reading Christie mysteries - I am not a big fan of mystery novels in general, but I do enjoy Agatha Christie. And generally she never fails to entertain me - this book being no different. Poirot always has been and remains my favorite detective. But there is a minor problem with this novel... It feels like a footnote - somehow hasty and less filing than the big name novels ("Murder on the Orient Express" for example). Still fun, but less focused than Christies other work.

Female of the Species is more deadly than the male in this amazing Christie mystery

Despite its being written in the 50's this is one of my particular favorites by Christie. I love the setting in this novel. I would never have thought of a girls school as the scene of three murders, a kidnapping, jewels, and more. I love the characters they are all colorful and realistic. The one character I really dislike was the gym teacher Miss Springer because she is annoying and a bully it's no wonder she gets shot to death in the gym. I was surprised by the ending I was stunned by the identity of the killer and its motivations. You won't be disappointed.

Cat Among the Pigeons by Agatha Christie, is a mystery novel that will always keep you guessing. I thought that this book was excellent. There is constant suspense and it keeps you wondering about what could happen next.
Cat Among the Pigeons, takes place at the Meadowbank school in London. The time period is the early 1900s. The major conflict in the book is when one of Meadowbank¿s teachers is found shot to death in the gym locker room. Hercule Poriot, London¿s finest detective, hunts for clues all throughout the school. He discovers that a student named Julia Upjoin was confronted by a strange woman who gave her a tennis racket. He also finds out that a certain Prince Ali, was recently killed in a plane crash, but the $50,000 worth of jewels he had is now missing. But perhaps the biggest clue of all is the strange light always being seen in the locker room.
At some points in the book there are a few challenging words, but it is still possible to understand what is happening. The story is told from an omnisent point of view and occasionally you will find some very long paragraphs. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense. Anyone who reads this book will be amazed when they find out who committed the crime.

Queen of mystery

I bought a box full of her books for $12 a bargain! So, now I am slowly working my way through them. She stumps me every time! I didn't see this one coming at all. I love her wit and her characters. She always has a lot of foreign characters, and I find them interesting, appalling, amusing, baffling. She is really the Queen of Mystery. This mystery describes the murder of teachers at a prestigious girls¿ school and the abduction of a Middle Eastern princess.

Mysterious and Suspenciful

Agatha Cristie, the author of this book, is a mystery writer and a very good one. In this book a school called Meadowbanks is a highly recommended and proper institution of learning. Only the finest and richest young ladies attend, but there is a twist. As the year progresses teachers are systematically murdered and the students begin to leave because of safety considerations. Could the disapperance of the jewels, kidnapping of the princess, and murders of the teachers all be connected to Meadowbanks? This book is suspenseful and intriguing and will give the reader many hours of pleasure.

I thought this book took a really long time to get into but once it did it was quite a page turner. I recommend it to anyone who likes mysteries.

Meadowbank is an exclusive school for well off young girls and even princesses.So that is the last place anyone would expect a murder to occure.All the victims are school mistresses and all the murders have one thing in common they all happen in the schools newly built Sports Pavilion.Throw in some jewels that every one are looking for and that some may kill for.It all adds up to a great mystery.

spellbinding - keeps you guessing till the end..

A revolution is about to break out in Ramat an islamic territory and its benevolent ruler and his pilot freind fear execution. The are almost awaiting thier deaths but the ruler gives some precious stones to his pilot Bob to be takne out of Ramat in case the latter survives. The pilot thinks of a plan to smuggle it through his unsuspecting sister who is incidentaly in Ramat with her daughter who because of pneumonia needed dry and warm weather. Unfortunately someone in the hotel where the sister Mrs. sutcliffe is staying sees where the stones are secretly implanted by the pilot Bob and this becomes a motive for muder, thern another and yet another... all in a prestigious school by the name Medowbank whose headmistress has been careful all these years about it's reputation. The stones reach Medowbank school which is an exclusively feminine school where Mrs. Sutcliffe's smart daughter Jennifer is sent for better education and upbringing. But she doesn't know that what she is carrying with her(though unknowingly and unintentionally) was to become a centre of intrigue, blackmail, kidnapping and even murder not one but three of them. I somehow did not enjoy the second murder. But one thing is easy to guess from the title itself that the killer is someone inside the school a person who has not sense of belonging to the school. But the motive is hard to understand till the end. Even how poirot gets to know all about it is not plausibly explained like his other books. But it lacks technicality which saves a lot of headache. Poriot unfortunately makes an entry after about 200 pages but the earlier pages too are very interesting. It would take any reader two chapters to actually understand as to what the story is about.Thereafter it is good fun. I suggest that people reading this book should later read Hickory, Dickory Dock as well which is an identical plot more or less. I somehow did not understand the last chapter of Cat.. which is titled 'Legacy'. All in all a good book.

If you can overlook the tardiness of Hercule Poirot's arrival in this one, the rest of the book was really good. It keeps you guessing!
