A cat, a mouse, and two corpses equal a menagerie of murder for actress turned cat-sitting sleuth Alice Nestleton…

Dubbed “one of Manhattan’s finest little-known actresses,” beautiful cat-sitter turned sleuth Alice Nestleton has been called into action again. This time the New York City cops have put her onto a case that’s right up her alley. It begins when a routine murder investigation uncovers a string of clues that tie up fifteen years of unsolved homicides.

The common thread: a cat-loving serial killer who preys on feline owners, whisks away the startled pet, and leaves a mouse toy at the scene as his calling card. This is enough to put Alice hot on the trail for more clues—a trail that moves from the secretive small towns of the Adirondacks, to the pages of a book of nursery rhymes, to the eerie caverns of Central Park. There Alice finds herself face to face with a mysterious cult whose devotees dabble in cat-worship—and murder.

First of all, please B&N delete these other "reviews", as they seem to be messages sent between people involved in some kind of role-playing game. It was hard wading through over 50 "reviews" only to not get any info on this book at all. Now, about the book: the title is not indicative of anything in the plot. I have no idea why it was titled that. Continuing on with the "small stuff", on around page 101 the author uses the pejorative "retarded", so by the time I got to that page I was not only bored and annoyed, but offended. Last "small" thing - the Guthrie Theater is in Minneapolis, not St. Paul. On to the main points of this review...If you are looking for a book in the manner of, say, a Sofie Kelly cozy cat mystery, you will be sorely disappointed. The 2 cats in this book are not relevant, nor do they help solve the mystery (as loved by so many of us readers of this genre). The mystery itself is "cat-themed", but that's really about all I can say for the cat elements in this book. The 2 main characters, Alice and Tony, are self-absorbed, one-dimensional, and so dimwitted it stretches all credulity to think they could solve any kind of mystery, let alone the convoluted one this turned out to be. Although there are points in the book where Alice seems to be concerned about the victims, how concerned could someone be when she and Tony have sex in one of the victim's beds? Major yuck factor. She also pays attention to irrelevant things, spends a lot of time mentally calling other characters crazy, and jumps from "clue" to "clue" without any rhyme or reason. Her sidekick Tony is no better, and their conversations were so long and boring I found myself skipping pages because none of it was relevant to the plot, nor did it do anything to develop the characters - unless the character development was intentionally focused on making them as annoying as possible. The ending is convoluted, doesn't explain many things that happened in the book, confuses 2 characters with one another (and if it was intentional, to imply one character impersonated another one, this is not explained), and doesn't connect to any of the "clues" previously described in the book. All in all, a waste of money and time. I won't be reading any more books by this author.

A young 3 moon old kit pads in. She seems to be healthy, except for her scars on her face, legs, and tail. Her light hazel fur unusually sparkled, and her mysterious rainbow eyes that have a heart pupil. A storm cloud with a face seemed to follow her. "Helloo.. h-hurt. P-please help.." Collapses onto the ground.

Thunder crackles in the distance as cold rain rides on aproaching clouds. A small cat, no older than a paw, croses the Wolf Clan border. She she folds her paws underneath her and gazes up at her stary ansestores, especially her mother. Its going to be a long night, she says aloud, as if talking to an unseen figure. She will get through it though, meeting a Wolf clan patrol will be worth it..........
