While all of the 'Cat Who...' books have a dark side (being murder mysteries), this one is particularly disturbing. I imagine that many people are like myself-- they're prepared to lose a few side characters or even the occasional main character to the cause of mystery, but leave the animals out of it! This book features murdered cats, suicidal cats, abused cats... pretty unpleasant stuff. If you're the kind of mystery reading cat lover who prefers to see chalk outlines being drawn around non-furry bodies, give this book a pass. You'll sleep better.

Some of the short stories are pretty good, but others are just plain creepy. Not really written in the same "tone" as The Cat Who..... series.

I think that this was a great book. They put together 14 Tales of Mysteries that cats solved. My favorite had to be 'Phut Phat Concentrates.' I also like that name Phut Phat he he he. Well, I highly recommend this book, but only if you like cats.

The book The Cat Who Had 14 Tales is a good book. If you like books that have more than one story in them and you like adventures, this book is for you. It has mostly adventure stories in it but it also has a few mystery stories. One story is about two cats that are just like two people. When the cats first met so did the two people. When one of the two people left to go on vacation the cat was found nowhere in a house or on the streets. When the person came back the cat was found tattered and beaten up. Another story is about an alien cat that burns UFO type circles in a field, and wants to become friends with a bird (a canary to be exact)!! Other stories from this book are: Phut Phat Concentrates;Weekend of the Big Puddle; The Fluppie Phenomenon; The Hero of Drunnond Street; The Mad Museum Mouser; The Dark One; East side Story; Tipsy and the Board of Health; A Cat Named Conscience; Su su and the 8:30 Ghost; Stanley and Spook; A Cat Too Small for His whiskers; The Sin of Madame Phloi; and Tragedy on New Year's Eve. I thought this book was VERY good and fun to read. I highly recommend this book, that's why I rate it 5 stars.
