All Music Guide - Johnny Loftus
Catalyst doesn't quite graduate New Found Glory from the punk-pop rungs. From its main aesthetic thrust to the pristine mixing and production, this is a slick and durable Drive-Thru missive, micro-tweaked for maximum Warped Tour ROI. Still, the guys in NFG have been at this a while, so a little exploration is not only understandable, it's expected. To that end, Catalyst's East Coast hardcore kickoff is welcome. Even if it's more of a genre exercise than an actual song, "Intro" illustrates the band's desire to grow within its influences, as do cuts like "All Downhill from Here," which suggests the literate tack of the Alkaline Trio, or "Truth of My Youth" and "Failure's ...

Even if it's more of a genre exercise than an actual song, "Intro" illustrates the band's desire to grow within its influences, as do cuts like "All Downhill from Here," which suggests the literate tack of the Alkaline Trio, or "Truth of My Youth" and "Failure's Not Flattering," where the rousing melodic jaunt of the Get Up Kids seems to be the model. That group's James Dewees even contributes some fizzy synthesizer to "Flattering." As studio budgets grow, so does the scope of an album's requisite power ballad, and Catalyst is no different. Violins and violas chirp urgently in the background of "I Don't Wanna Know," and late-'90s Lillith Fair hopeful Kendall Payne resurfaces with a gorgeous supporting vocal turn behind NFG frogman Jordan Pundik. It's a great track, despite limiting lyrics "I never cared how I dressed before/But I cared that night" of the sort that plague Catalyst's entirety. Elsewhere, beyond the occasional flirtation with drum programming, more piano, and the irresistible new wave influence in late-album standout "No News Is Good News," New Found Glory stay with their old standby blend of catchy punk-pop inflected with chunkhead metal. Highlights include "This Disaster" and "Doubt Full"; best is the absolutely unstoppable revivalist romp "Your Biggest Mistake," which should rule the half-pipe hi-fi until Hurley's fall line comes out.
Rolling Stone - Kirk Miller
The band's extra effort shows, giving its pop glory some newfound energy.

    New Album

    This album is buy far the best album by any band I have ever heard. Right from the beginning it is upbeat and keeps you intrest. But, the slower songs like "I dont wanna know" add variety to the CD. It is overall a very well thought-out and produced CD and it a must buy for everyone.

    Great CD

    A great CD to folllow Sticks and Stones.. for fans of the new Punk sound this is an awesome CD.. The killer tracks are Truth of my Youth and Failures not Flattering.. All downhill from here(there first single).. is also an awesome song.. I have read reviews that this CD mixes 80's metal with emo Punk.. and I would have to agree.. But to me thats an awesome mix.

    Full of awesomenosity!

    New found Glory did it again. This album proves that after all this time they still can make kick butt music. Not only do the lyrics make the songs great but the music along with it makes it hard to stop listening too.

    CATALYST IS YOUR FRIEND

    Catalyst is the new and improved album by a talented, kick @$$ band--New Found Glory. This album shows that the band's sound has matured and is still changing throughout the six albums since their first E.P. This album is slightly heavier than the last, but does not change the trademark NFG sound they've always had and always will have. Most importantly, New Found Glory has not lost its brilliance throughout the years.

    Catalyst = AMAZING!

    I truely think Catalyst is one NFG's best albums. The lyrics are honest and true and the melodies are irresistable. Once you start listening to this album, it is hard to stop. This is a must have album, even if you aren't a die-hard NFG fan.
