Overview

It's time to take back our country.

Now. It's that simple. It's that urgent.

So begins Dick Morris and Eileen McGann's latest and most important book. They say that we must act before President Barack Obama fully implements his radical political agenda. Because after Obama has won his war on prosperity and canceled the war on terror, it will be too late to regain our liberty or our security.

At a time when we needed a pragmatic centrist to lead us out of recession, we got a doctrinaire socialist who wants to use the crisis to put the government in charge of the economy and enact European socialism here in the United States.

Cars, banks—what's next? He will keep at it until Washington governs every major business in America and sets all our salaries.

It's a catastrophe.

Dick Morris and Eileen McGann saw the meltdown coming. In their book Outrage, they called out the house of cards that was Fannie Mae. In Fleeced, they went after the credit card companies, the subprime mortgage lenders, and the hedge fund billionaires who conspired to wreck the economy—and Barack Obama, whose policies, they predicted last summer, would "trigger a stock market crash."

Now, in Catastrophe, Morris and McGann take a hard look at America in free fall—and at how Obama is transforming a vulnerable America into a socialist state.

They tell the truth about Obama and his radical policies:

• He will destroy our health care system so that no one gets adequate care.
• He designed his bank rescue plan to pave the way for nation-alization of the banks and socialization of the economy.
• He firmly believes in government control of our major industries—he's already commandeered the banks and the automobile industry.
• He plans to reshape the political landscape to keep the left in power for decades by cooking the census, enfranchising illegal immigrants, muzzling talk radio, and coercing workers into unions.
• He is attacking those who fight terrorism while letting the terrorists go free.
• He gives aid to Hamas while Shariah Law threatens to take over America.
• He has repealed the Declaration of Independence and put us under a worldwide, European-dominated financial regulatory system.

But Obama is not working alone. Morris and McGann spell out how Congress is complicit:

• How Senator Chris Dodd and Congressman Charlie Rangel use special interests and special friends for their own enrichment and glorification.
• How Ted Kennedy Jr. is exploiting his father's health care power.

"This is no time for apathy or alienation or hopelessness," Morris and McGann remind us. "It's a time for action." And that action must begin now—before it's too late.

Catastrophe

Chapter One

How Obama is Causing a Catastrophe

Obama's tax increase will trigger a stock market crash and devastate the already slumping real estate industry. A selling psychology often feeds on itself and can induce a market-wide panic. So the nearer Obama gets to power the faster the markets are likely to dip. So look for a sharp downturn as election day approaches and especially in the period between a Democratic victory and inauguration day. Obama will doubtless blame the drop on the outgoing Bush administration, but it would be his own tax plans that send the markets into a tizzy.

That's just what I was thinking...

Dick Morris is an articulate spokesman for common sense. He presents in a logical and highly readable fashion, what is happening to our country under this administration. His book spells out the problems and what we can do to address them. His experience in the political realm lends to his credibility.

"Catastrophe" lays out the severity of the actions, some blatant, some not, being taken by our federal government, which are having a chilling effect on all of our freedoms, and especially the most cherished one - freedom of speech. Americans are becoming more and more afraid to speak their minds, because of fear of reprisal or of being ridiculed.

Any bright, thoughtful person should be able to see what is happening to our personal freedoms, our Constitution, our monetary system, our private enterprise system, our healthcare system, our national sovereignty, etc.

Dick Morris lays it out in such a way that the reader can understand the motivations behind Mr. Obama's actions, and helps the reader to be able to intelligently speak about these critical issues to others.

These are truly life and death issues, but we must act from a logical perspective, and not simply on our emotions, as many of the left do. Mr. Morris gives a roadmap to gain back some dominion in vital matters, before our country is ruined for our descendants.

    Maybe, Just Maybe.....

Reviewers should actually READ the book before they cast dispersions on it, for it is clear that the "person" who gave this book a one star review clearly had NOT read it. I don't think those having "opinions" in the absence of FACTS are worthy of offering us thought and/or human speech. If you can't READ the book, kindly refrain from offering us your uneducated and uninformed opinions. Every fool has an opinion; only those who've got their facts in order are worthy of a hearing or a reading. Perhaps this is why the liberal left is in such farcical shape, intellectually. They know so much that isn't true, as Ronald Reagan once said.

    Obamagedden

In light of the increasingly difficult economic hardships and President Obama's moves to take over entire sectors of what is left of that which is made in America, authors Dick Morris and Eileen McGann ring a Paul Revere wake up call for America. In their eye opening and thought-provoking book, "Catastrophe," they argue that the time is now to get involved in politics and intervene before America turns into yet another of histories failed socialist nations. At the basis of the book is an in-depth look at Obama's policies for catastrophic tax rates as a result of socialist health care, the dismantling of the free market economic and the middle the class, weak international politics, amnesty for illegal immigrants as a divide and conquer tactic and the whole sale destruction of the American dream, culture and way of life.

    Catastrophe is a MUST READ!

It's a book I couln't put down. Not only was it informational, it was an eye opener that I have recommended to a few too liberal friends. I wouldn't dare loan them my copy. I enjoy all of Dick Morris's book, they have opened my eyes, not only to how Obama is destroying our country and the freedom it stands for, but he is taking us into a direction that will surely destroy our God given rights. We must fight to keep our country free. Our Military has spilled a termendous amount of blood fighting for not only our God given rights but the rights of other free nations.

Morris is on the money: facts and figures: read them and unfortunately: weep!

Love the angry comments directed at Morris made by many party loyalists who throw stones but do not respond to even one of the salient points Dick has made in this new book. Would be nice to see these and others raise the questions that need to be answered. Forget party loyalties, how about we become loyal to the people of this great land and raise our voices in opposition to the socialization that is going on right before our eyes. Wake up folks, this is your watch!

Sorry, but this guy doesn't get a break from me

Why not give this author a break and read his book before trashing it? Because in essence, giving his book a bad review before reading it is EXACTLY what he is doing to the Obama administration's policies. How the heck does this nitwit know if 'European Socialism' will be a disaster in the US. I'm not seeing reports of millions starving in Europe, where, by the way, tegh average life expectancy is higher than it is here in the US. What this author is really doing is pandering to the ridiculous notion we have in the US of 'sides'. If Obama is on your 'side', he can do no wrong, but if he represents the other 'side', he is the devil incarnate. Please, give me a break! There is enough destructiveness and hate around already, we don't need to support self-serving authors who just want to get rich pandering to the hate-mongers among us. I just wish that zero stars was an option....

    Dumb ain't provocative

Maybe this book will be as incisive as Dick's last, the one about the Presidential race between Hillary and Condi; yes, that's right: the race between one who didn't run and one who lost her party's nomination.

    FRIGHTENING BEYOND WORDS, BUT FRANKLY...

ANYONE WHO WATCHES ANYTHING BUT MAINSTREAM MEDIA (THINK PRAVDA IN ITS HEYDAY) KNOWS FULL WELL THE DISASTROUS MARXIST TRAIN WRECK WE ARE HEADED FOR. MORRIS SEES IT, AS DO MANY WHO HAVE EYES AND A BRAIN. HE'S SIMPLY YELLING IN THIS BOOK FOR SOMEONE TO STOP THE CONDUCTOR FROM DRIVING OUR TRAIN OVER THE SWIFTLY APPROACHING CLIFF. LOTS OF US SEE IT TOO--AND TO THEM THIS IS HARDLY A REVEALING BOOK. NEVERTHELESS THE WARNING MUST BE MADE. LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO CONVINCE US THE TRAIN RIDE IS A SAFE AND PLEASANT ONE, EVEN THOUGH THE CONDUCTOR HAS NEVER DRIVEN A TRAIN BEFORE AND EVEN THOUGH WE *APPEAR* TO BE HEADED FOR A CLIFF, "JUST SIT BACK AND RELAX AND ALL WILL BE WELL." BUT SOME OF US--INCLUDING MORRIS--PREFER TO BELIEVE OUR "LYING EYES."

    What's in a name?

DICK morris is back with another trash piece about the party that jilted him. This man's sour grapes know no bounds. Obama hasn't been president for 6 months and already Morris is back telling us that he's bringing our country to it's knees??? But he chose to remain silent when our last administration ran rampant across the middle east and sent our financial system into the tank. As always, Fox News' weasel-boy remains as slimey as ever. Stay classy, DICK.

Dick Morris is one of the most astute political minds of our age

Very concise and detailed disection of Obama agenda. It's really unsettling that so many Americans are not paying attention to what is happening in Washington DC and that the Congress has assumed a "We know better" attitude and ignore their constituants in favor of "go along .. get along" mentality. One senator recently stated that the people of his state elected him NOT to vote based on the majority of his state citizens' desires, but rather that he was elected to vote based on HIS best judgement of an issue. Dick Morris warns that these people are leading the country toward Catastrophy ..

    The title says it all

Those of you who criticized this book because you're enamored with Socialism should read RELENTLESS:The Socialist Attack On American Freedom. Then this book will make more sense to you. You simply have been brainwashed by the left and need to be deprogrammed and enlightened. This is a very good book because what he has to say is vitally important today, and, because it is easy to read and understand. Good job Dick.

The book is absolutely fantastic. I loved it. It is extremely informative and frightening at the same time. It is scary to read what is happening behind the scenes that the major news media outlets are just not telling us. I pray to God that this country changes the course it is presently on. This book is a must read for anyone who is interested in defeating the socialist and communist agenda that many in power would have us become.

As an Independent voter I did not vote for Obama mainly because of all his past associations and how little the main media pressed him on real issues that I felt are vital to the country and the media's job to reveal these to the electorate.

Dick Morris, who you might remember as a Clinton strategist, and Eileen McGann do a remarkable job of flushing out details that the typical person would not normally think about. He puts Washington politics in very clear and readable perspective. The book reveals a lot of the real dangers this country is facing and how President Obama has failed on just about all of them. Ironically it is his own party that insists on sinking him. Nancy Pelosi is probably the most partisan House Speaker in the past 100 years. As for Harry Read, he appears as a tool of Pelosi and has shown virtually no leadership in the Senate. The interesting fact here is that whether you voted for Obama or not I think it fair to say that most Americans wanted to see Obama succeed. The last thing we wanted is to see the first Black American elected president to have a failed presidency. Dick Morris and Eileen McGann show exactly how these things are all playing out exactly as planned by the Democrats. Also, don't get fooled into thinking Obama is some kind of fool. Clearly he is not. He and the rest of his Chicago "Mafia" team are letting Pelosi and Read carry the water for them, while they turn America into a Socialist country, using the European model. The problem is this is a failed model that leaders like Sarkozy and Merkel are trying desperately to change. Ironically the real capitalistic country of the 21st century will be China.

The authors also go into the amount of corruption in Washington and give details with names and dates. Even the shamefull practice of the younger Kennedy's trading off their dead parents to raise money for themselves of all things. Don't get me wrong, this is a fine American family who has given and taken from the government. But like everything else there are always a few sleezeballs in every crowd and the Kennedy's are not without their own.

The book is enlightening in that it truly helps the reader understand what is really going on in our nation's capital. Be you Democrat, Republican, Independent or something other I think you will find this book interesting and thought provoking. After reading it and really thinking about several of the sections I think the book is actually a MUST read for anyone who truly cares about this country and where it is heading. In my opinion it clearly earns five stars and should be on everyone's must read list.

    Our End is at Hand..

This is not a review of the book as much as my opinion of it.

I am neither rich nor poor. Nor am I a democrat or republican. I am simply someone who has seen the country move drastically to the extreme left in both actions and future plans. This move sickens me yet I remain silent. It frightens me while I look the other way. Thank goodness for writers like Morris and McCann.

In Catastrophe, they point out the obvious in a glaring, horn-tooting fashion; making it impossible to not miss the big picture. Every section of the book taught me a new item that I did not know about. And while, much of the book must surely be hyperbole, it is worrisome that large parts may not be.

No matter your ideological leaning, you should read this book, do your own research, and then decide if this is the change we really need. I fear that once we go down this road, we will lose our map for the way back.

This year I have read and also enjoyed these books. (Reminder that enjoy does not equate to total agreement)

Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative ManifestoGuilty:

Liberal "Victims" and Their Assault on America

Glenn Beck's Common Sense: The Case Against an Out-of-Control Government, Inspired by Thomas Paine

    Unbalanced and poorly written

As a liberal, I sat down to read this book with an open mind, however, I could barely make it halfway through. Many of Morris' points are completely unfounded, and he seems to hold grudges against the people he writes about. If you're going to write a book criticizing liberals/the Democratic Party, I would suggest being more balanced in your discussion than Morris was. Finally, some of the points brought up regarding the war on terror and Hamas are so biased it was not even funny, and I gave up reading and just flipped through the remaining pages.
