Children's Literature - Barbara Wheatley
"This has got to be the best place for adventures in the whole wide world!" Jamie and Tom's adventures continue in the "Dinosaur Cove" series when the boys decide to try crabbing the lagoon in their secret dinosaur land. After learning about how to use a crab line from Jamie's grandpa and the promise to meet him later to crab on the beach, the boys head off on their adventure. Walking through the cave at Smugglers' Point into Dino World, they are greeted by their herbivore friend Wanna the Wannosaurus. Traveling through Dino World, the boys find a great rock ledge at Misty Lagoon to sit on and try crabbing where they catch a huge silver-colored, dinner-plate-sized crab. The boys use Jamie's Fossil Finder and learn that crabs have not changed much since dinosaur times. While examining the crab, the Fossil Finder is swiped by a carnivore Velociraptor. Chasing the Velociraptor to get the Fossil Finder back takes the boys through hot geysers and into the Velociraptor's nest. Maps of the town of Dinosaur Cove and Dino World, a glossary of dinosaur terms, and Fact Files of the main characters accompany this chapter book. Nonstop escapades and numerous illustrations give the young independent reader a chance to discover dinosaurs and get hooked on reading. Reviewer: Barbara Wheatley

I have read every book in this series, and I like them all. This was a very good book. I really thought it was interesting. Tom and Jamie go into smuggler's cave and travel into dinosaur world. I like velociraptors. In this book it is funny because the velociraptor steels Tom and Jamie's fossil finder. Tom and Jamie, and their dinosaur friend Wanna, have to travel across a desert full of geysers to get it back. This book also teaches you how to catch a crab. Tom and Jamie learn how at the lighthouse they live in, and then catch one in dinosaur world.
