Released on March 9, 2011, the New American Bible, Revised Edition (NABRE) is the culmination of nearly 20 years of work by a group of nearly 100 scholars and theologians, including bishops, revisers and editors. The NABRE includes a newly revised translation of the entire Old Testament (including the Book of Psalms) along with the 1986 edition of the New Testament.

The NABRE is a formal equivalent translation of Sacred Scripture, sponsored by the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, using the best manuscripts available. Work on most books of the Old Testament by forty revisers and a board of eight editors began in 1994 and was completed in 2001. The 1991 revision of the Psalter, the work of thirty revisers and six editors, was further revised by seven revisers and two editors between 2009 and 2010. Work on the New Testament, begun in 1978 and completed in 1986, was the work of thirteen revisers and five editors.

    Excellent & well-organized Bible!

I'm so pleased that we now have an authentic Catholic Bible for Nook, and even better that it's the NABRE edition. This is well organized; the hyperlinks to go to a book or chapter, a footnote, etc, work well, and very quickly. It's really nice that I can use the highlighting & notes features to prepare for Bible study class.

The only tiny quibble is that I now really wish my Nook Color had a good "back" function; when I jump to a footnote, I have to back up to the point of citation manually.

The Douay-Rheims Nook Bible I purchased a while back is going to my archive shelf; this is far superior. Excellent reference and well-organized Bible!

    very poor

I enthusiastically purchased this bible for my Nook color and was very disappointed. It is impossible to navigate, especially in Psalms. The bar with the table of contents, book marks, etc will not come up. I took it to a store and they could not make it work, even on their unit. They called Nook support and they would not believe the store personnel. They had to argue with a support supervisor to get me a refund. This is not the first issue I have had with Nook support. Very poor customer support and very disappointed in the book. I was really excited about being able to have this bible on my Nook color. Maybe I would have better luck with a Kindle.

    problems in navigation

I bought the Nook specifically for the bible, lightweight and easy to hold. It refuses to navigate through the Book of Psalms, which I use daily. Very frustrating. I have redownloaded and reregistered but nothing helps. In other areas it works fine.

Don't buy it. It doesn't work.

Once opened, the book stops working. You can't move the pages or get anywhere but on the page you now find yourself. It's a good read, but the dang thing just doesn't work. Save yourself the aggrivation and don't buy it. B&N should be aware this product does not work, but they continue to sell it anyway. Shame on them.

    Do Not Buy

So disappointed...This freezes in the Book of Psalms. I figured that it must have been fixed by now and if not, surely I would be able to get a refund. Neither turned out to be the case. Not sure if the freezing is due to the size of the Book of Psalms, or what, but it is still frusting. My bad for not knowing that you can't get a refund on NookBooks.

Great Bible ... But Psalms don't work

I'm an ordained Catholic Deacon and am almost 100% satisfied. But, there is a serious BUT! the Book of Psalms is a disaster. I spent almost 2 hours today, 3 July 2012, at B&N trying to get it to work. BN please note .... multiple complaints.
My Nook color is still locked up and cannot close the Bible.

    Difficultly with Psalms

Everything was going well until I got to Psalms, and my Nook Color froze. I was unable to do anything with the book. My other books would also not open unless i turned the Nook off, the restarted it. Other books would work after the restart, but not the bible.

I semi-solved the issue by opening the NAS Bible on my PC, and went to another book in the bible. Now I can read all the Books of the Bible, EXCEPT for Psalms.

    Please correct this flaw!

My Favorite Bible of them all!

I sort of struggled to find a bible that suited me-some had too many "thees" and "thous"; some were way too modern and didn't sound very holy to me at all. This NAB was just right and I believe that it is the version that I hear read in Mass at my parish, which is terrific, too. It must be said right here and now that I have NEVER had any navigation issues with this bible. I have read some of the previous reviews and I became a bit concerned, especially about the Psalms. So I went to my own nook version of the NAB Bible and specifically went to Psalms and I did not have a single problem. Once in a great while I have to wait for the page to load when I first turn on my nook, but after all this is a HUGE work and I do not have a problem waiting for a few seconds. Once everything is loaded, it all works just fine and I can navigate around, highlight, make notes, etc. without any problems whatsoever. I really enjoy this bible and I highly recommend it. I especially love the notes and explanations after each chapter-very handy for newer bible readers like myself. Peace.

    Frustrating

As one who prays the Psalms each day, I am having lots of trouble with the Psalms links, especially with Psalms 130-150. The pages won't load, and after a several minute wait, it just times out. Too bad, since this is a great translation. Very disappointed and frustrated.

    Frozen at Psalms

Good content, but bad e-book with technical problems. Having just received my Nook, this was the first book I purchased. Worked great from 1 Jan 12 through 7 Mar 12, when my reader froze while reading Psalms. I made it through Genesis, Exodus, and Leviticus. Also read Matthew, and some of Acts. I even got to Psalm 67, but this e-book is frozen and I can no longer use it. I see similar posts on this matter--but no fix as of yet. Considering whether or not I need to switch to a different reader platform before I invest too much in e-books.

I am responding to those individuals who have had a negative experience with the Psalms.  I have the Nook Simple Touch BNRV300 software version upgrade 1.2.1.  I have gone through all 150 Psalms without problems.  Perhaps the problems are with the Model Number or the software version.  This is a beautifully edited edition of the NABRE and I recommend it to anyone wanting the complete Old and New Testaments.  All references are hyperlinked which makes it even more valuable as a reference and reading source.

Was enjoying having the bible on the nook but it seems to have frozen with me too. Can't get it to move forward or backword. I close it and it opens to the exact same page. All my other books are fine. Hope they solve this issue.

    Portable Bible

I love having this Bible in my Nook. All I need each morning is the slip of paper with the list of readings for Mass and I am all set. I can make the text as large as I need, and I am very happy.
