Truly a gem Something in me wanted to "look up" prayers from my long-past Catholic school days when I first opened this book full of hundreds of prayers (I resisted the impulse to count them). Well, no index but, realistically, adding one would be nearly impossible, and how effective would it be? Plus, doesn't thumbing through fit with the book's purpose--to encourage and enable us to "pray continually"? And the book does, after all, follow a coherent structure laid out in the table of contents. Prayers are grouped under such categories as praying to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; praying the sacraments; and praying the sacrifice of the Mass. The familiar prayers I was looking for turn up in two main sections: Prayers to Mary and Daily Prayers, which includes the acts of faith, hope, and charity; morning offering; and act of contrition. Moreover, there are additional versions of these prayers along with many others taken from a wide variety of sources. The book also offers longer devotions such as the Rosary, the Way of the Cross, and several litanies. I am especially interested in "The Jesus Psalter," which is new to me. It's simple to pray, but too complex to explain here. If you buy the book, you'll find it on pages 37-50!

a while but now slowly getting back into it. The Catholic Prayer book is extremely helpful in refreshing my memory of different prayers and remembering how beautiful they are.

The Catholic Prayer Book is the best prayer book I have bought. It contains more prayers than other books and many hard to find prayers. I thought the way this book was organized is what really set it apart. You will be able to find a prayer for any occasion in this book. I would definetly recommend this book to everyone. I will be using this book for first communion, confirmation, and graduation gifts!

A wide collection of prayers which I find nice, useful, but not greatly inspiring. I will continue to use it; it's good enough. Easy to find my way around in it. For whatever it means, I'm an old guy (78), and have always liked good poetry in prayers. (I don't mean rhyming poetry, I just mean beautiful language.)
