Do you want to understand your faith?

I taught CCD for 25 years in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I had thought at the time that we were not doing a very good job with the materials available. Now I know for sure that we did not do a good job of teaching our faith to most for 30 years after Vatican II. The materials and methods available to us were unproductive at best. I tell my adult groups that I have felt a little guilty for letting them down when they were children and am now trying to right a wrong. I am now exposing them to what they should have learned when they were children. We have lost so many and have much work to do. I am so excited that we now have great materials to work with that reflect the truths of our faith. Catholicism and Reason is the first book of 4 in the series: Catholicism and Reason, Catholicism and Life, Catholicism in Society and Morality and Medical Ethics. This series can be used for high school and adult education. I have been facilitating a group of adults using the books for almost 3 & 1/2 years. We are about to finish the last book, Morality & Medical Ethics. They say they would like to start over because they enjoyed the books so much. I have not lost one member of this group. They are enthralled with what they are leaning about their catholic faith and how to live it. It is easy reading, clear, concise, great stories, and with Scripture and Catechism references. I have recommended this series to everyone I know who is looking for great teaching books about the Catholic faith. The Leader manuals that go along with each book are the best leader/facilitator guides I have ever used. Great suggestions, examples, questions and answers to get the group to participate in discussions. I can not recommend this series enough. Thank you Fr.s Hayes and Jim Drummey. I see these books heading the list on Jesus' Church and how it is He wants us to live our lives.
