Overview

Cats takes on an almost three-dimensional form to present moments "stolen" by expert photographers from the everyday lives of these beloved animals. Sinuous and agile, playful, intelligent, and pitiless, cats of all stripes come alive in these splendid color photographs. Here we see cats as we think we know them, but there are plenty of surprises as well. Accompanied by the writings of leading zoologists and journalists, these images remind us that our cuddly companions have not lost all the instincts of their cousins in the wild, namely lions, tigers, and leopards. This book is a pleasure to leaf through and a reward to study. Its creative photographic portrayal of cats will fascinate readers of all ages, while young readers will especially enjoy the feel of the book's "cube format," chock-full of images that they will treasure for years to come.

    Mesmerizing!

I found this book after searching Barnes and Noble.com. I went to the B & N store, and the photographs in the book were so beautiful that I couldn't wait to purchase it and get home to take them all in. I was mesmerized, and fell in love with the cats. There are so many pictures, yet every cat is unique! I can study each one closely, or peruse the pages at a quicker pace, and glean something new from them every time! The still photography is excellent, and the pictures with cats in motion are remarkable. I highly recommend this book to cat lovers. And if you aren't one already, this book will demonstrate the beauty, character, versatility, and amazement cats posess! The newer edition is the best because it is much larger, and therefore draws one in even more. The captions are just enough if you are in the mood for something uplifting, but not for lengthy reading. The quantity of photos allows for many hours of enjoyment. They are rich, the cats lovable, and it is relaxing to just sit and enjoy!
