I gave this book three stars not because the story was soso, it wasn't. I very much enjoyed the the story of Menace and Naya. The characters were well rounded, well written, the story fast-paced and gripping.

My problem is that after reading and enjoying Grabbed by Vicious, a 476 page book, I happily paid $8.00 each for Menace and Venom only to find that they are each are less than 300 pages. Menace is actually only 224! If you're going to charge so much for a book, at least make it a full length book and not what I consider a novella.

Well, I have to say, I have read a book by Lolita before and I didn’t really like it. But like any good reader out there, I always give an author another shot. Let me be the first to say I AM SO GLAD that I did with her!! This book completely surpassed any thoughts that I might have had with it and I couldn’t put it down once I had started it. It was even to the point where I told one of my friends they had to get the book when I was about half way through.

This book was great; there was the right balance between the erotica, suspense, and romance that kept the pages turning. I was halfway through the book before I even realized that I was that far along. I enjoyed the fact that even though there was the sci-fi aspect to the story, it didn’t take it over completely. In fact, you forget about it while you are reading. At least that’s what happened with me!

The characters themselves were written well, you could tell the chemistry between them as the story progressed. Menace comes off as sort of a jerk in the beginning, but as the story goes along, you can tell how soft hearted he actually is. Now with Naya, she seemed completely perfect to me in almost every sense. She did what she had to do to survive, and she showed true compassion when it came to her friends.

Overall, this is a complete must read from me! I will be sure to keep my eyes out for other books in this series!

This book is perfectly fine being read as a stand alone. I say that because that’s exactly what I did, and I wasn’t lost. Of course the characters from the first book make appearances in this book, you don’t need to know what happened in the last book to enjoy this story. In fact, reading it as a stand alone allowed me to live in the moment with Naya.

Naya is a human who lives a rough life on her home planet. She’s gotten by as best as she could since she was abandoned as a young teen by her family. When her best friend’s number is pulled for the grabbing, she pays her way onto the list. Which isn’t really hard to do since no one really wants to be grabbed and mated to an alien. During a grabbing, aliens from a spaceship come to the planet in hopes of grabbing a bride. The women get a few minutes head start and soon the aliens follow. If they are able to grab a woman before she reaches the safe zone, they get to keep her and take her back to their ship. Which of course is where Naya finds herself, grabbed by an alien.

I liked the story and the sci-fi element of aliens and humans but I didn’t feel like it was sci-fi enough. The aliens were described as being really tall with pale hair and eyes. So of course I picture a blond haired, green eyed NBA star. I’m not saying that the aliens need to have tentacles coming from their neck or eyeballs on their biceps but at least give them horns, insane body colors or something to make it more sci-fi. I’d say even Jabba the Hutt would do, but let’s be honest here, there’s nothing sexy about that. All I’m saying is make them not appear to be human. I just felt like I was reading a futuristic novel about two humans and that really knocked the book down for me since I really wanted a heavy sci-fi element to this story, and I didn’t get it.

Aside from that, I did find the story enjoyable. I liked the suspense of the grabbing and the fact that some people from other, less fortunate sections look at being on the grab list as a blessing because of the horrid conditions that they live in while others are terrified of having their number drawn. The erotic parts were nicely written and evenly spaced out to where they didn’t overrun the story but complimented it with appropriate scenarios.

Is this a series that I’ll keep up with? I think if they become available for review, I definitely will. It was an enjoyable read.

Caught by Menace? Erm YES please! There are times when you wish fantasy was reality. Reading this book was one of those times for me.
What happens when you have a Dominant male and take no crap female and mix them with a blend of BDSM? A seriously hot and steamy, burn up the sheets, give me a cold shower read is what happens. Phew!

This is the first book that I've read by Lolita Lopez and wasn't sure what to expect. I love the story line, I love the characters and I love the theme. The book flowed for me and the scenes moved from one to another really well. It was a very smooth read in that aspect.

As you can imagine with a dominant leading male and a hard as nails leading woman this book was not short on action or suspense. It is definitely a keep you on the edge of your seat page turner. However, from the build-up of the two leading character I expected a bit more reluctance to Nayla submitting to Menace. For me, her will was broken a little too easily with not enough fireworks. This could have been expanded on more.

As the synopsis suggests there is an M/F/M scene in the book and although the sex scenes are steamy I don't think the M/F/M scene went far enough for me. Now I know this is personal choice and is no reflection at all on the book or the author but I did find it tame.

I am awarding Caught by Menace a 4* rating. It was a good read and I wouldn't hesitate to pick up another of Lolita's book to read in the future.

WOW, WOW, WOW! What a sweet surprise this was. To be honest, I wasn't really sure what to expect and when I first started I wasn't sure I was going to like it... same ole BDSM sex and blah, blah, blah. Well, Lopez bent me over this book and showed me that its more than that! Its a great story with even better sex!

Naya grew up pretty rough and was abandoned by her family when she was just a teen. She's gotten into trouble with the law just trying to survive. Well, long story short Naya's friends name is drawn for a "Grab". So Naya pays to get her name on the list in an attempt to escape and save her friend and herself for a better life in the colonies. You can imagine what happens next... she's caught by Menace, an alien weapons specialists who is ready to find his bride.

Don't be fooled by Menaces name. Although he is Alpha to the core, he is also sweet, patient and sexually skilled. *waggles eyebrows*

Overall, the story is great and gets better as the book progresses. The sex is super hot and this book now has my most favorite ménage scene ever with role play. I've not read anything with role play before and this particular scene was so well written and tastefully done. I love the communication and the consent with these characters. The only thing that is unbelievable to me is that Naya didn't really fight him in the lifestyle at first. He opened the playroom door and shes like 'sure let's give this a shot'. Of course if I was in her place I probably would have done the same thing.

I loved this book. I can't wait for another of the Grab series. I loved the alpha male Menace but what was delightfully surprising was how caring and thoughtful he was to Naya. However I wish there would have been more devolvement of their relationship. Yeah he's dominant and she for the most part is submissive but I thought there could have been more as they developed their relationship and I was craving more great sex scenes but other than that it was a great book. I couldn't put it down.

Wonderful story with great sex scenes AND action scenes.

Menace's gentleness merged with kinkiness makes him one sexy hero.

    Looking forward to Terror's story.

Well-Crafted Addition to the Grabbed Series!

Lolita Lopez hits another home run with Caught by Menace, the second installment of her science fiction romance series Grabbed.

Menace, a weapons specialist, decides it is time to settle down and find a wife through the Grab. Heeding the advice of his friend Vicious, Menace follows his instincts about which woman to chase during the Grab. I enjoyed meeting Menace’s character in the first story. Even though domesticated bliss would have repulsed Menace months ago, it was fun to see his character grow from a bed-hopping bachelor into a relationship-seeking man, all the while trying to not make the same mistakes Vicious did. Once Menace realizes that he didn’t handle Naya’s transition from the Grab to the ship well, he completely changes tactics to make the beginning of their relationship better for Naya. On her world, Naya was without family and committed crimes in order to feed herself. She and her best friend planned for years to escape the Grab and flee to another planet. But, sometimes the best-laid plans don’t work out, and instead, Naya is Grabbed by Menace. Uncertain about her future because of rumors that the Harcos men beat their women, Naya shares her fears with Menace and to his credit he alleviates them, which made me like both of these characters even more. Their sexual chemistry is electric from the start, and their bedroom scenes are steamy and passionate. As Menace figures out some of Naya’s sexual fantasies, he prepares a role-playing ménage with his friend that is so hot it will scorch your e-reader. Throughout this story, the author expands her plot of moles, gunrunners, and terrorists, adding depth to this story and to the overall series.

Building on Lopez’s absorbing world with an entertaining couple and engaging plot, Caught by Menace is a well-crafted addition to the Grabbed series. As much as I enjoyed Grabbed by Vicious, and I really loved the first book, I was completely captivated by Caught by Menace and read it in one sitting. I can’t wait until the next book in this series—actually, it can’t get to my e-reader fast enough.

I received an eBook copy from the publisher for purpose of an honest review for The Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.
