Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kathie M. Josephs
Four Athletes try out for the team, but none make it. Instead of getting depressed, the four decide to become their team's best cheerleaders and call themselves the B-Team. They show up at every game and get all the students involved with cheering the team on. Their names alone are enough make every child want to read the story. How often are heroes named Hairball, Face-paint, Amy, Howling Mouth, and R. U. Wittus? At a big game, students are wondering if the other team is cheating and they hire the B-Team to find out. As the story goes on, the Team finds the proof they need that the opposing team is indeed cheating, but have a difficult time getting away safely. With the final game about to begin, the B-Team cannot be found. How will they be able to save the game? Will the team save the day? This book is well-written, has action, humor, and a good storyline. The vocabulary used adds to the interest. This book was written as a graphic novel, and the pictures certainly add much to the story. The format makes it perfect for a reluctant reader. This story will be enjoyed by both boys and girls. This book is great for a classroom library as the author has included a mini biography for both the author and illustrator, discussion questions, writing prompts, and a glossary. Reviewer: Kathie M. Josephs
