Overview

Taken on its own accord as a snapshot of a band's career, Causing a Catastrophe -- Live is a bit lackluster on several fronts. What comes through loud and clear via big guitars and screaming fans is Flickerstick's rock star posturing. For at this mark, they are a young band, though not a bad band. They simply lack the artistic finesse and musical diversity of a more well-seasoned group, such as U2, R.E.M., or even Counting Crows. No doubt that will come with more experience and a few ego bruises. Judging by the audience reaction, they seem to be on the right track. Submit the singalong version of "Sorry. . .Wrong Trajectory" as evidence of that argument. It's a pretty decent pop
ock song, to be sure. An appropriately spirited cover of Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You" goes a long way towards adding credibility as far as cool influences go. Nice choice, that one. If you enjoy saying you knew a band way back when, check it out, because with a little luck, Flickerstick will be in it for the long haul.

If you ask just about anyone who has ever seen Flickerstick live, they will tell you they put on the best live show. I have to completely agree. Every time I listen to Causing A Catastrophe-Live I get the same overwhelming feeling that I get at their shows. The guys play so good together, and of course, Brandin's voice is just as beautiful as always!! GREAT ALBUM!!!!!

We won't mention what show they were on because the whole country saw it. Flickerstick, from D/FW proves that they are more than just a t.v show. Especially with the release of their newest arrival. The live cd captures the pure natural chemistry of the band members onstage together. Blending the technical talent of Rex Ewing with the heart and soul of Cory Krieg the guitar sound is clean with emotion. Brandin Lea has the chance to add his special flair of onstage voice fluxuations. Combined with the pristine bass lines from Fletcher Lea and the clean sweep of drums from Dominic Weir the band proves that live is what counts.

Causing a Catastrope is an amazing live cd. If it is real power pop, alt./rock music you are after, flickerstick delivers. Amazingly catchy melodies and heavy guitar rock music makes this cd a must have for any rock fan. I can't put my copy of the album down. Flickerstick is a dynamic group that is well known for their awesome live shows and this cd backs up the claim that Flickerstick is the best live band, and the hardest working band in music. They put everything on the line when they are on stage and hold nothing back, and you can hear it on the cd. I recommend this cd to rock fans everywhere.

Flickerstick has done it again - putting out a cd that really reflects the magic of this great Dallas band. Not only included are favorites like "Smile" and "Chloroform," but also new material like "Telling all the World," and my personal favorite, "Believe." This band truly rocks live and this recording is one of the best live cd's I've ever heard.... it truly reflects the energy and charisma, plus unmatched talent, of this band. If you have never seen them live, then this is a chance to "imagine" what it's like - they are truly as good live as they are on this cd, and vice versa.

I first heard about Flickerstick, as many did, on VH1 bands on the run. So of course i had to see them live, see if they could really pull it off, see if they're material was good. And it actually was, they totally blew me away within the first 10 minutes. Since then i've seen them live many times, in hopes that a live album would be out in the future. This album is incredible, the sound quality is quite well for a live CD. For those of you that feel the need to judge this band, pick up a copy of the live CD and see for yourself, then if u like it pick up the debut album from them. The live CD is just a sample of what you get from them at a live show. They by far are one of the most amazing and consistent live bands that i have ever seen. Give it a listen and see for youself.

Flickerstick's new live CD, Causing a Catastrophe, is an amazing release that shows off the band's intense live sound. The album was recorded at Deep Ellum in Dallas, TX and includes two brand new tracks. The new songs, "Telling All the World" and "Believe", show a definite maturity in the band's songwriting and leaves listeners anticipating a new studio album. The CD also features the band's amazing cover of Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You". Add that with some classic tracks from Welcoming Home the Astronauts including "Coke", "Beautiful" and more and you have a killer live album. Definitely pick this CD up, you won't be dissappointed.

Flickerstick has to be one of the greatest bands. The live CD is the ONLY live CD that I enjoy. They sound great live and I'm sure that they will be just as awesome at the concert here in Orlando on the 15th. I look forward to it because they are such a great band! =)
