Meet the Author

Judy Nichols grew up in a Batavia, Ohio, a small town twenty miles east of Cincinnati. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Kent State University and even managed to find a paying job as a journalist but didn't have the stomach for asking the hard-hitting questions. After a long stint of temporary office work in Cincinnati, she decided to go into elementary education and spent three wretched years as a substitute teacher in the Columbus, Ohio, public schools.

Then, she met Nigel, a British national who lived in an old farmhouse outside of Aurora, Indiana. It was in that farmhouse, one day in 1996 while her baby daughter Alysoun slept, she decided it was time to get started on the book she'd always intended to write. She fired up the word processor, and five years later, Caviar Dreams was finished.

Now, the family lives in Wilmington, North Carolina, and Ms. Nichols has a second thriller in the environmentally themed Tree Huggers.

He raised the glass to his lips and took a drink. It was a terrible wine, but it had served its purpose well. That remark about not having the taste for such a fine wine had been sheer genius on his part. It had gotten that backwoods hick bastard to drink the whole glass right down.

He set the wine down on the coffee table. Good God, this was tacky furniture. He couldn't wait to get out of this place. He just needed to pack up his briefcase and be on his way. Might be a good idea to take the wineglass with him. His fingerprints were all over it.

No. It was better to wash it off and put it back in the cupboard.

That done, he took one last look around the room. Everything he'd touched was wiped clean. Everything he'd brought with him he'd locked in his briefcase except for the syringe, still lodged in Derek's arm despite the convulsions. He picked up his raincoat and umbrella and headed for the door, congratulating himself on a job well done.

At that moment, he heard the scritching sound of a key in the lock and saw the doorknob move. He froze on the spot in horror.

    I Also Recommend:

    A thrilling read

I was hooked on this book from the start. It's funny, entertaining and compulsive. The characters are well developed and totally believeable. There are so many twists and turns, the book is a real page-turner, I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. The main character Lisa's life is turned upside down when her best friend falls in love with a thief who steals all her money, and there are devastating consequences for all involved. I would highly recommend this book.

Not sure what the other folks are reading, but I didn't get the same warm fuzzy from this book. The protagonist's rub has been done, and done, and then over done. The story, overall, felt like a choppy regurgitation of a run-of-the-mill television script. I'd love to see someone write about something original for a change, and not the same old, same old we can watch on any given week night.

    A Page Turner

This is a good "read on the plane" book. The action is fast enough to keep your mind off your surroundings and the characters seem real. In a lot of mysteries, the characters are cardboard cut-outs. In Caviar Dreams, the characters are real people you come to care about.
