Overview

To celebrate Peter's birthday, Frederick Warne is publishing new editions of all 23 of Potter's original tales, which take the very first printings of Potter's works as their guide. The aim of these editions is to be as close as possible to Beatrix Potter's intentions while benefiting from modern printing and design techniques.

The colors and details of the watercolors in the volumes are reproduced more accurately than ever before, and it has now been possible to disguise damage that has affected the artwork over the years. Most notably, The Tale of Peter Rabbit restores six of Potter's original illustrations. Four were sacrificed in 1903 to make space for illustrated endpapers, and two have never been used before. Of course, Beatrix Potter created many memorable children's characters, including Benjamin Bunny, Tom Kitten, Jemima Puddle-duck and Jeremy Fisher. But whatever the tale, both children and adults alike can be delighted by the artistry in Potter's illustrations, while they also enjoy a very good read. Because they have always been completely true to a child's experience, Potter's 23 books continue to endure.

Eight short nursery rhymes about Cecily Parsley, Goosey Gander, the five pigs, Pussy-Cat, three blind mice, Tom Tinker's dog, a garden, and Ninny Nanny Netticoat.

    Many typo's

I am surprised that Barnes & Noble does not check the content of the books they offer~ or have a service that does so. This book has so many typo's that it is almost impossible to read unless you know the words. Disapointing

Do not bother. Should be removed.

Please remove this. It is unreadable. I would rate it zero if given the option.

    Digitized distress

This is a digitized classic. The pictures came out well, but the text did not come through cleanly. If you have it memorized from childhood the text is good enough, but do not give this book to a child learning to read, as there are too many random, incorrect, and confusing characters in the text.

Was hoping for a bedtime story

Glad this was free. Impossible to read. Got it to read to my son but it looks as if a child beat the keybord while someone was typing.

    A Slight but Charming Artifact

Here is a very small book for very small children. It takes only a few minutes to read it, but to read it correctly one must read it again and again. Thus there is a delight simply in the sound of the words and the commonplaces of the 'stories'. It's a little book for little hands which adds to the charm of owning this book as an artifact of childhood. I love my copy, and I don't even have children to read it to!
