Editorial Reviews

Denise Perry Donavin
One hundred years have passed in Thrush Green since its village school was founded, so the residents are keen to celebrate. Then local author Harold Shoosmith discovers that also in 1892 a mission school was founded in Africa by Nathaniel Patten from Thrush Green. A newly discovered bundle of letters and a diary spell out how Nathaniel was guided by Thrush Green Vicar Octavius Fennel. So, a grand church-school centenary is launched. Read's cheery account of the arrangements reintroduce several old-favorite characters and bring back many memories from her previous books. Her thirty-sixth novel, set in an engaging Cotswalds village, is as cozy as its predecessors.
