Next to best knitting book out there

I have not been knitting for long but i'm always keeping an eye out for good knitting books. When i saw this i knew i would love it. Not only did it have great hip, chic scarves in it but it also gave u nice directions on how to make each scarve. I have made at least 2 scarves from the book since i got it but have used different parts of different patterens for other scarves i have made. For example: i made a scarve that i hade wanted to add pockets to but was not sure how to do so. One of the patterens had how to make pockets (small ones, so i addjusted the length). So i used that. I deffenatly say that if u love to knit this is a good book to get because not only does it have how to knit scarves they are scarves that are very stylen and will never go out of style. Even if u do not use it alot (you could save it for grandchildren or even your own kids some day of maybe a good friend) it is deffinatly worth the money.

    Not for true knitters

I was excited when i read about the book online and thought it would be interesting. The photograghs were beautiful, however, if you are a knitter you would be disappointed with the book. The scarves were very simple, mainly the garter stitch only, and if you were looking for new and chic patterns this is not the book to get.

This book is being marketed to the wrong people.

Simply put, the folk at Vogue Knitting should have marketed this book to celeb watchers - not knitters. As a knitter, I'm bored with it. I do like to read about other knitters, but the bios in this book fell flat and the scarves were too simplistic. As a former fundraiser, I'm saddened that this book is such a dissapointment since it was created to raise funds for an excellent charity. Don't waste your money on this book. Send it directly to the charity instead.

    Waste of money!

I am an under 30, fashionably hip knitter who has been knitting for less than two years and I found this book insulting! I really thought I was going to enjoy this book when I first heard about it, but I'm sad to report that it is a complete waste of money. Yes, there are one or two scarves that are pretty chic, but it's not worth the $25 the book costs. I would rather spend the money on some yummy yarn and come up with my own scarf pattern. You don't have to be an advanced knitter to know these scarves are BORING. There were about 5 scarves made in chunky/bulky yarn (like the red/white/blue striped one) that were so plain and unoriginal, I think my 5 year old niece could come up with something better!! I think your money would be better spent on books like 'Yarn Girls' Guide to Knitting' or 'Hollywood Knits'--books that offer something for beginners as well as advanced knitters.

    Excellent for us beginners

This book is wonderful for those like myself, just starting out and feeling a little apprehensive fearing they will appear matronly if not down right'old maid-ish' trying their hand at knitting. A lot of knitting books try to lure the beginner with intricate designs and patterns which can often intimidate instead of encourage. That's great for those more experienced in knitting, but as for me? Give me a book like this one that offers a beautiful simplistic pattern that is easy to learn and some encouragement by the celebrities that whole heartedly endorse this wonderful hobby. This book show its readers that this is a hobby for every generation and that you shouldn't be embarrassed to only be a beginner as many of the featured celebrities are also. I highly recommend this book to the beginners!

    I WANT TO KNIT!!!!

I was at the launch party yesterday at Henri Bendel and bought myself a copy of Celebrity Scarves. I can't believe that so many celebrities love to knit and I love most of the scarves, especially Shiri Appleby's, Bridget Moynahan's and Rebecca Budig. I don't know how to knit, but I definitely want to learn now! And also like the fact that some of the proceeds are going to a charity organization.

An insult to real knitters everywhere

I wish I could give this book zero stars, or even minus five stars, but one star was as low as I could go. This book is the worst kind of fawning-celebrity garbage that has invaded the world of knitting. First of all, the book should have been titled 'Minor Celebrity Scarves,' as the purported celebrities it profiles include a great many unrecognizable ones. Second of all, anyone who has knitted for more than a week can tell just by looking at the pictures that these scarves are predominantly garter-stitch scarves in chunky and/or novelty yarns. Allow me to save you the price of the book, should you be interested in making any of these scarves: cast on 15 stitches, knit every row, cast off. Vogue Knitting should be embarrassed to have its name on this book. Any decent knitter should be embarrassed to buy it.

    Beautiful Photography

I really enjoyed this book. As a beginning knitter myself, it makes me see that I can create some beautiful scarves for myself and friends. These women are not professional knitters, just regular folks like us taking on a nice creative hobby. The photography is just awesome. I highly recommend the book
