I bought this as an impulse buy a few years ago when I could not decide between these cards and another book that was in an independent bookstore, so I bought both.

The cards are less in number opposed to Tarot, and I found the spreads (like in most Tarot books) to be less than helpful but when you find what works for you, the cards can be fairly accurate.

The Book: Perfect size, extremely well laid out and has that pleasant "new"smell. Straight forward and easy to read through fast and handy to use as a reference to the cards as needed.

The Cards: As these are NOT Tarot cards, they have a whole different look and feel to them. The size of the cards are a bit large, about the size of coasters. The card meanings are very different than the Tarot so when I use this deck, I still have to look at the book every time because in the content of the description, there can often be different and settle ways to interpret.

The set comes in a sturdy, cardboard box and I find the cards to be best used for quick answers and insight as well as daily readings. If you are looking for more long term, I would stick to the Tarot but this deck definitely comes in handy.

A great way to hear from Spirit

Like many others out there, I am constantly seeking new ways to hear from my guides and loved ones on the other side. Until I can hone my skills, this deck provides a fantastic way to ask questions and get answers. It's not complicated like a traditional tarot deck. The cards show pictures with key words on them to make it easier for you to remember the meaning of each card. The suits make much more sense to me as well-- one of them is solely animals, which I like because I believe that animals are our teachers...and another suit is Land- which also has wisdom to impart. If you do not identify with Celtic beliefs or any sort of earth widom, you may not find this deck to be of much help to you, but most of the symbols used are universal and can be picked up rather quickly. Highly recommended. Also, don't be turned off by the fact that these cards are round- I find it enchanting and yes, I can still shuffle them the same.

    A really lovely deck

I have been reading cards for a long time, and this set is really nice. I LOVED all of the Celtic information that came with the deck. The cards will not only teach you about Celtic lore and traditions, but about their belief system and how they balanced their life with the changing seasons and the signs attached to each. This deck will teach you about moon phases, celebrations and the dates attached to each, what the Celts believed in, and how they ran their daily living. The cards are lovely, with wonderful art and colors. The cards are round, so even touching them feels good. I am very impressed. Powerful symbols and a bit complex, so the newbie might feel confused, but sitting down to study everything, and taking your time to understand and apply the knowledge, will make the new person feel better. A deck to take time with and to savor. All in all, a really lovely deck to own, and beautiful Celtic culture to enjoy.

Great deck for many interested in cartomancy.

I got this deck because of my very high Celtic interest, and I have never been happier. I prefer to use this deck as a type of oracle deck instead of a type of tarot deck because it's more udeful for quick questions instead of elaborate readings. It's even more useful because it gives a few word description of what each card means, so if you happen to forget the accompanying book, it'll work out fine - even if you're not used to divination by intuition. For the price and information this deck gives, I would recommend this deck for anyone - from the beginner to any master of cartomancy, even with a slight interest.
