Some of these are gentle, like the charming "Tar Road to Sligo;" some display the inspired fancy-footwork intricacy of "Piper's Despair" or "Mayor Harrison's Fedora." But all of Whelan's renditions are sharp, precise, unadorned, and untampered with, for as Whelan himself says, "You have to play them right for that dance to happen."
