A Caldecott Honor author/illustrator team brings us a unique Cinderalla story, with a remarkable fairy godmother to tell the tale. Adapted from a traditional Creole story, this fresh retelling captures all the age-old romance and magic of Cinderalla, melding it with the vivid beauty of the Caribbean and the musical language of the islands.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Of this retelling of the Cinderella tale, set on the Caribbean, PW said, "The lyrical cadences of the text spattered with French and Creole words combine with the sensuous paintings to bring the tropics to life." Ages 5-10. (Jan.) Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.

    A Sweet Heart.

*The color illustrations seem to be paintings that may have been part of an art exhibit. They are lovely and captivating. *A beautiful tale with the island of Martinique as the backdrop. *A different tale from the one offered by Disney titled "Cinderella." Read and watch for the similarities and differences. *Enjoyable. *Beautiful French Creole words fill this tale. *Allows your imagination to soar to this beautiful island and its culture and customs in the lovely artwork on each page of this work of fiction.

    The best story

How would you feel if you lost a glass slipper? In the story Cendrillon by Lesley and Javier she lived with two stepsisters and a stepmother. The Author that wrote this story is called Robert D. San. Souci. I think this story is really nice. It is also really fun. It¿s really romantic. This story is really happy. My opinion is that everybody should read this book and buy it. We say you should buy it because it¿s the best story ever made.
