Isham Jones led first-class dance bands during the 1920-40 era that sometimes were jazz-influenced. This 1994 CD has radio transcriptions taken from two occasions in 1935 and 1937 and emphasizes the jazz side of Jones' music. The 1935 band which is heard on 17 of the 22 selections is most notable for including Woody Herman who has several clarinet solos and for being the nucleus of the first Herman band a year later.
