Purpose: The purpose is to prepare nurses to become certified nursing educators. Nurse educators now occupy a place in a new specialty in which certification is necessary.
Audience: Current nurse educators and those desiring to become educators are the intended audience. The authors are all experts in their fields.
Features: Nurse educators can no longer be just expert in their specific fields, they need to be able to teach a variety of students in a variety of settings. This book encompasses all topics necessary to assist nurses to become educators. Tables summarize important information. The CNE core competencies are addressed as well. Also included is information on the test blueprint, practice questions, and a list of additional resources.
Assessment: I am not aware any other books that address this area so thoroughly.

Meet the Author

Maryann Godshall, MSN, RN, CCRN, CPN is an Assistant Professor at De-
Sales University in the Department of Nursing and Health. She received her
BSN from Allentown College of St. Francis DeSales and her MSN from De-
Sales University. She has a post-master's degree in Nursing Education from
Duquesne University and is a PhD candidate at Duquesne University. She has
been teaching for 9 years and her expertise is in pediatrics. She holds a certification
in both pediatrics and pediatric critical care. Her current research
interest is with pediatric burn patients. She has published several articles
and most recently a chapter in Disaster Nursing and Maternal Child Nursing
Across the Lifespan. Her accomplishments include the 2008 Nightingale
Award of Pennsylvania Nursing Scholarship.
