Caleb slowly approached the girl before him. She was obviously crazed by the look in her eyes. Taking in her appearance with a slow sweep, he watched her face flush as if embarrassed, but she refused to look away. He grinned in amusement as she now cast her eyes slowly over him.

He watched her struggle to see his face, partially hidden behind his metal helmet then as if giving up, her eyes nervously trailed once again over his body.

He could see she was growing weary as her arms wavered and knew that any minute she would drop her stick.

Pulling his horse just out of reach, the great beast shook his head and snorted, causing the woman to shriek.

Caleb was quick to note her state of dress, her garment muddy and torn, exposing a dirty but slender collarbone. Long, wild hair hung down her back, matted in knots and tied in a crude fashion. He wondered if she were a runaway.

Dirt smeared on both cheeks made it hard for him to tell if she were comely or not. But he was pleased to see her legs were long and shapely. Her ragged gown was torn up one side, exposing bare flesh and allowing him to feast his eyes on a curved hipbone. He watched as her chest heaved from fright.

Caleb read the fear in her eyes as they locked, her throat contracting with a slow swallow. He found himself held by their unusual color, reminding him of the endless waters along his lands shoreline.

Intrigued, his lips curled slightly and in a deep voice he asked, "From where do you come, girl?"

Chamberlain was taken by surprise. Was he for real? The heavy stick began to slip from her hands unsure what to say. His English was strange and she answered his question with one ofher own. "Where am I?"

His answer was gruff as he snapped. "What kind of game do you play wench? You know exactly where you are. By what rights have you to question me? You are on my lands, which now makes you my property. Give me the name of your keeper and I will release you to him with only a light beating for your obstinacy."

    Not worth the money

I didn't care for this book or the writing style. There was no depth to the story and I felt like I was reading a book that a high school student had written. I definitely would not recommend spending money on this book. I love to read and can usually get into a book but I just wish I could get a refund on this book.

    Enjoyed This Book!

I enjoyed the book from the being to the end.
I thought there would be more about time travel, but there was not.
