Meet the Author

Jean Oram's experiences of growing up and living in a small town in Alberta, Canada has inspired her Blueberry Springs series. While none of her characters have lived in an old schoolhouse helping their parents raise honeybees like Jean did, other parts of her childhood have managed to sneak their way into the Blueberry Springs series.

Jean loves to ski, hike, camp, read, write, and watch romantic comedies. She lives in Canada with her husband who isn't impressed by the amount of romance novels she's downloaded using *his* ereader's account (sorry, honey!), two kids who like to keep her hopping by having sudden growth spurts which requires her to go shopping, a very large dog who sheds year round meaning lots of time with the vacuum cleaner, and a fat cat who likes to curl up on her keyboard while she tries to write.

She loves connecting with readers and has a romance goodies mailing list where she sends out free newsletters of goodness--freebies, giveaways, book news and more: www.jeanoram.com/signup.

This heroine is no heroine, she is an old dish rag, wrung out, used up, no starch.

The heroine of this book and the endless crisis in her life, went on until I wanted to rip this book to shreds. It made my head hurt. No more books by this author for me. I skipped about 100 pages just to get to the end and be able to say I finished it. My recomendation, don't read. I gave it three stars because it was nicely edited, had a plot and had an actual ending. I am not say the plot and ending were good, just that they existed. Some of the books I have read lately had none of those.

This story started with a bang and had me racing through the story to see who Beth ends up with. Mixing humor with relatable small town charm, we're introduce to a fun set of characters, each with their own problems to solve. But most importantly, we have Beth who wants nothing more than to marry her sweetheart and fiance, Oz, and start a family, only to have Oz hit the breaks when he looks around and realizes he's living the life his father wanted for him-- not the one he wants for himself. Only problem is he doesn't have a clue what that life should look like. Beth is happy to help him find his way, but one circumstance after another pulls them apart

Enter Nash, a handsome city slicker doc who's there for Beth when she needs someone to talk to. He seems like a safe bet since he's repeatedly stated that he could never fall for a country-bumpkin, and Beth knows she fits that description to a T. After all, she's waiting for Oz to find his way back to her arms and Nash is just a friend who's seen his share of heartache and gets what she's going through. Yet fate has other plans-- for all of them.

This was a fun light read, with laugh out loud moments, and then other parts that really tugged at your heart strings. Highly recommend. The perfect beach or bath tub read.

So Bad I Finally Gave Up and Didn't Finish1

I am addicted to reading and have been for 30 years and this is the only time I remember not finishing a book I started. I got to page 246 and gave up. How can you enjoy a book when you have no respect for the heroine of the book and you just want her to grow a spine and shut up?! I couldn't stand her anymore and had to give up on the book. I don't even care enough to flip to the end to find out what happens-unless it ends with her getting hit by a bus, thus alleviating any fears of a sequel! Take my advice, skip it!

I agree with AD below. Although, am giving 2 stars. The heroine is whiner who can't make up her mind and the plot is so ridiculous even for fiction. I won't read another book by this author and would not recommend this.

    Interminable

Draggy plot, stilted dialogue, unlikeable lead characters. Skipped through most of it.
    Well-edited, however.

I enjoyed it enough to come looking for book 2. The heroine is confused but so are a lot of people. Life is rarely as simple and straightforward as a romance novel so it felt real.

    Not What I Expected

From the cover art, I expected a funny romantic triangle with lots of situational comedy. However this was a tear jerker. I cried more than once with the main character. All the characters were flawed, making them more real. It was a good read.
