After making underground waves with 2002's inspirational Even Closer, Cali neo-soul singer Goapele returns with Change It All, a cocktail of love and politics splashed over tranquil rhythms. Collaborating with savvy producers like Linda Perry and Kanye West collaborators SA-RA Creative Partners, Goapele shrewdly experiments with diverse musical styles -- "Love Me Right" recalls David Bowie's "Rebel Rebel," "Fly Away" revisits George Clinton's synthesized funk, and the new wave-ish "Different" slinks to an understated, synth-and-guitar groove. While most young soul songbirds are more concerned with their wardrobe than social issues, this Bay Area princess maintains her sensuality while urging her audience to save the world by changing it all. This album will make you think

Unlike some of the new music of today, Goapele will make you think about what is truly going on in the world today and what should be going on with the world today. She makes you think about your past relationships and what you should have said to him or her to make things right. This is just a great, positive album that I think everybody should buy, no matter what your music preference is.

    This will "Change It All"

Although her first album "Even Closer" didn't give this very talented singer/songwriter the recognition she so deserved, upon intial listen of the her new album "Change It All" will, it's sure to change the minds of many. "Change It All" really shines, in the way that it surpasses many newcommers in the R&B biz, with solid well defined production work, meaninful lyrics, and not mention the sweet voice of the "G" herself. Goapele surely has the talent and even the sex appeal (if I can say those sort of things about a woman who is much more than that), but she also dosen't fall into the same pitfalls so many other singers fall into, when it comes to content, as in the title track "Change It All" where she talks about the situation surrounding schools. Granted "Even Closer" put Goapele on the map, but not many followed her in the direction she was going but "Change It All" will do just that and hopfully give her the wide spread boost she deserves.

    Worth the hunt

This CD is worth the hunt to buy. Goapele isn't mainstream, and that's the highest compliment that can be paid. Her voice is wonderful, her look amazing and the songs are very lovely. Buy this if you like real singers.
