Overview

"It seems like everyone else has the script. Everyone else knows what's happening and I look around and say, Duh."

Of course, the truth is that no one has the script because there is no script to follow. Chances are you'd find that almost everyone else has questions and worries a lot like yours, if you could get them to admit it. This brand-new, completely updated and revised edition of Changing Bodies, Changing Lives is full of honest, accurate, nonjudgmental information on everything teenagers need to know about today.

Am I the only one who

can't get up the nerve to ask someone out?
got my period so early?
doesn't even know the right way to kiss?
feels pressured to use drugs?
still hasn't hit puberty yet?
wants to avoid the gang scene?
worries when my mom doesn't come home at night?
is scared that I might have AIDS?
can't decide what form of birth control to use?
has no idea how to tell my friends I'm gay?
goes on eating binges?
has never had an orgasm?
is shut out of the popular crowd?

Changing Bodies, Changing Lives has helped hundreds of thousands of teenagers make informed decisions about their lives, from questions about sex, love, friendship, and how your body works to dealing with problems at school and home and figuring out who you are. It's packed with illustrations, checklists, and resources for the answers you really need. Best of all, it's filled with the voices, poems, and cartoons from hundreds of other teenagers, who tell you what makes them feel worried, angry, confused, sexy, happy, and, yes, even excited and hopeful about their lives. (Check out the first two pages for a sample of the quotes you'll find inside.)

Being a teenager is tough. With the information and the ideas inside this book, you'll have what you need to make these years the best they can be.

"The authors who brought Our Bodies, Ourselves into the national health consciousness now address the needs and questions of the teen community...looks at the physical, emotional, & psychological changes unique to teens."

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Written by members of the Teen Book Project and inspired by the classic Our Bodies, Ourselves, this third edition of a book first published in 1981 provides information about health and sexuality for teenagers. Presented here is the latest information on the physical and emotional aspects of puberty, sexuality, healthcare, sexually transmitted diseases, safer sex and birth control, living with violence, mental health, and eating disorders. Artwork by and quotations from teenagers about their experiences in these areas bring the content to life and set the book apart from more standard works such as Richard Walker's The Family Guide to Sex and Relationships LJ 2/15/97. Each chapter has a list of associations and print and nonprint resources. An excellent, extremely useful source for young adults and educators; highly recommended for all collections.--Barbara M. Bibel, Oakland P.L., CA
School Library Journal
Gr 8 Up. A monumental, encyclopedic discussion of sexual and emotional change during the teen years, this book is a revision of an earlier edition which did not discuss the AIDS epidemic. Clearly written by the authors of Our Bodies, Ourselves S. & S., 1976, it is illustrated with relevant cartoons, photographs, diagrams, and line drawings. Dozens of teenagers themselves were interviewed and are quoted in this book. This comprehensive book includes discussion of sexual technique, STDs and the danger of promiscuous sex, gay sex and sexual identity, and teenage pregnancy and its alternatives. Although the section on AIDS notes the risk of the virus' transmission through oral sex, the earlier discussion of oral sex discusses individual preferences only, without mentioning the health risks. A book that deserves a place in collections serving teenagers. Ann Scarpellino, Ramsey Public Library, N.J.

    Creates a well-informed teen

My mother gave me the second edition of this book when I was in the 7th grade (about ten years ago). It really covers just about *everything*, in much better detail than most other 'coming of age' guides I've seen. I know I was much better-informed about everything from contraceptives (how many 13-year- olds know what an IUD is?) to oral sex (and other alternatives to intercourse) than many of my peers. Kids are starting younger and younger, it's important to give them the facts and dispel the myths early.

    Pediatrician Recommended

As a pediatrician, I am often asked my opinion on what is the best approach for talking to your children about sex. I have recommended this book to parents of pre-adolescent children without reservation for many years, after I had purchased it for my oldest daughter. She almost wore the book out! My three other children read it and I discussed it with them. It is an excellent book. The information is presented in a factual straightforward way. This book presents an good way to 'break the ice' on the subject of sex and affords parents a way to broach the subject with their children, presenting unbiased, factual material. I highly recommend this book.

    To the first help

If a guy likes u he will....
Tease u and only u if hes confident. He'll talk to the person next to him act like ur not there. He will make stupid, wierd noises just to get ur attintion. He will bring up something random just to have a conversation with u. He wilstare at u. If u catch him staring at u and he is confident he will keep staring. He will flirt with other girls to get u all jealous, and to get u thinking" iv got some compwtution". Keep in mind that he might b a player if he keeps flirting and u dont want that. When u walk into the room his ftiends look over at u and make noises like for example ," ooooo joseph look whos here" things like that. His friends tell u things about him. Use that to ur advantage.
How to get a guy to like u even more and facts about guys that u might not know....
Smile, it will make him go crazy. B urself. Most guys like girls who dont wear alot of makeup. Before guys go to bed they always think about the girl they truly like. Guys care on wether or not u have manners. Guys usally call girls cute or hot if he calls u beutiful or gorgous he is totes in to u. Guys love thier moms. Guys like girls that arnt serious all the time. Most Guys like a girl thats inocent but if u take drugs ir whateves uts cool. Guys like girls that r honest and girls that can make up thier minds. A lot of guys hate gays no offence if ur gay im just statibg facts. Guys like gurls that take care of persinal hygene. When u say no guys hear it as try again tommorrow.

Wonc i went to the nurse. She took off her clothes and made me take off mine.she pinned me to the floor and started humping me. Then she sucked my dic and pinched my nipples. I liked so i sucked her boobs and bit them. I stuck my penis in her ass and fingered her vagina for 5 minutes.then she started kissin my balls. I started kissen her vagina. She licked my dic. I licked her ass and sqeezed it. She squeezed my penis.i started humping her ass real hard then i did the same thing to her vagina. My red thing came out of my penis and the nerse squeezed it and sucked it. That made me start pissin but i didnt care.i squeezed her boobs so hard milk came out.
