Overview

When Paul Morton was born, his father prophesied that Paul would be a great preacher one day. As the son of an influential pastor of two churches, Paul was raised in the Word and encouraged to follow his father into the pulpit. But God had a different plan for Paul, one that required change, risk, hardship, and a powerful faith. His earthly father had a vision for him, and his heavenly Father brought that and much more to fruition.

"Changing Forward" is Bishop Paul Morton’s story of God’s faithfulness. When Paul was offered a record contract singing pop music, God made it clear that was not the change He wanted. When he found himself the pastor of a large New Orleans church at only twenty-four years old, God used Paul to bring renewal to that church and its people. When Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans, God called that same church not only to come back stronger but also to grow and add a second location in another state.

This is also the story of the birth of The Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship, one of the fastest-growing and most influential fellowships in the church. Not just one man but many people and multiple churches had to step out in faith. That willingness to change forward as led by the Holy Spirit defines the life of Paul Morton and the church to which he has committed his life.

Although he had to overcome many obstacles that would defeat a lesser man, Bishop Morton prevailed, moving forward every time. His sometimes humorous,
sometimes heartbreaking, always compelling journey stands as an example to any who would follow God’s urging to change, grow, and move forward in faith.

    The secret of castle hill

    Chapter Twelve ~

The door closed behind us, and we were left in the dark. Thw room was pitch black, except for a small, glowing blue orb of light that illuminated the far half of the area.
Logas, Frenn, and I slowly approached the light. It looked like a glass ball, with blue flame incased inside. I could just make out a small wooden sign beside it -
    "Touch the ball."
    Well that's easy enough.
I reached forward to "touch the ball".
"Alora, wait- ." Logas tried to stop me, but it was too late.
At first nothing happened. Then, I could hear screaming. Screams of pain. "No!" I yelled, as visions began to swim before me. I could see Janred, lying dead on the floor, blood pouring from a wound in his side.
"No!" I screeched, as the scene switched to a bloody battle. People were being struck down on every side of me. I saw Aunt Brolli, slayed by a sword. Jalock, an arrow piercing his throat. "No..." I sobbed, turning away only to see Logas valiently throwing down opponents left and right. And then I saw a small shadow slinking behind him, a knife in hand-
The scene disapeared, and I lay sobbing on the floor of the dark room. Logas and Frenn were anxiosly bending over me.
    "Alora, what happened?" Logas whispered
"He was going to kill you!" I gasped. "With a knife!"
"A knife?" Frenn echoed, sounding distant.
"Yes!" I nodded, shaking my head.
I stared at Logas. He was right there... he wasn't going to die... there where no battles or knives...
I turned towards the glowing blue ball.
    But it wasn't there.
I heard a gasp and whipped around.
    Frenn had grabbed the ball.
Logas and I dashed over to him.
    "No!" He screamed.
    "Frenn, wake up!" I screeched.
His green eyes flew open and the orb fell from his hands onto the dark floor.
"Why did you do that?" I asked, eyes filled with worry.
"Darkness!" Frenn gasped. "And blood! I could hear screaming..." He trailed off.
I gazed past him towards the blue orb. "What is it anyway?" I wondered. "Why did they plant it here?"
Logas looked at me and said, "It's a test."
"A test of what?" I asked.
"Courage." He replied, then picked up the orb.
"What are you doing?" I yelled, trying to knock the ball from his hands.
I could see the orb turning a blue green color, and stared at it in amazement. Had that happened for me, too? I remembered that the ball hadn't changed colors for Frenn.
    Mabye something was going wrong.
    "Logas!" I said, shaking him.
The orb shook violently, than crashed to the ground.
    Logas fell after it, unconcious.
"Logas, please wake up." I whispered.
    Was he dead?
    Was he dying?
I felt the ground begin to shake.
"Alora!" Frenn cried. "What's going on?"
Before us, a door seemed to apear from the stone wall.
I heard a faint voice. "Go inside..."
Logas shifted beside me. He stumbled to his feet.
I threw my arms around him. "You're okay!"
Frenn gave me a wierd look, and I quickly stepped back.
"W-what happened?" I stammered, feeling embarressed.
"Never mind." I muttered quickly, before he could say anything. I stared at the doorway that had appeared before us. "Do we go inside?" I asked.
Logas nodded slowly, heading towards the enterance.
Frenn and I followed, and the moment we had cleared the doorway, the wall closed up and we were left alone in the darkness. A faint light shone down from the ceiling.
The air was thick with black mist.
    "Where are we?" I asked.
The mists swirled coldly around us in response.
