Anthologies are always fun to read, especially when some of your favorite authors picks up 'the pen' and writes in a different world. The authors who share their ability and create these Valdemar stories here are very good. One actually gives us a glimpse of the very beginning when Baron Valdemar established the kingdom and prayed for help from the 'gods.' The best short, in my opinion, is the last called "Interview With a Companion": written a bit tongue-in-cheek with some definite laughing moments, but giving the reader a good, general description of Valdemar and possibly the 'why' of this world.

Changing the World is another wonderful short story collection set in the world of Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar. A particular favorite of mine is the short story "For Want of a Nail" that tells about the founding of Valdemar, a time that has been little discussed in the series.
