Overview

Book Two in the Heven and Hell series.
Dying at the hands of a psycho was a shock. Having my life returned to me by an angel was incredible. Being named a Supernatural Treasure and being given Sam as my guard was pretty darn awesome. Acquiring a debt for it all-well, I should have seen it coming.
Now here we are, fighting demons from Hell, caring for a boy that I just don't trust, and traveling to faraway places to return a treasure to its rightful place. Nothing is as it seems. Everyone wears a mask; everyone puts on a charade. It's up to us to separate the truth from the lies and reality from fiction. A hard task when my new reality involves fallen angels, witches and dragons... and did I mention Hell?
Anchoring me down through it all is Sam. Sam, who must face tragedies of his own and is put to the test again and again.
If we fail in our task, life as we know it-life as you know it-will end. Forever.

As with the first book one, this 2nd book is still simply sweet.

As with the first book one, this 2nd book is still simply sweet. For folks who love stories with super-sweet romance, this book is for
you. A lot of innocent kissing and hand-holding. You know those couples in high school that can't live for a moment without the other or
they're just going "to die!"... ? That's Heven and Sam.

Again, straight-forward plot, no real surprises except for maybe one. Sam's brother, Logan, just plain creeps me out. And yes, that's a
good thing! I like to have some kind of reaction when I'm reading. :)  Oh, and mom's boyfriend? Not good, not good at all, though
expected. He was written too creepy to be good news.

Some things didn't make sense for me, like why Cole wouldn't let Heven tell Kimber about him. If Kimber was his girlfriend, that
wouldn't be a secret you'd keep, especially when seeing how upset it made her. To me, this was an plot-ploy to move the chess
    pieces into place.

Loved the Hell parts, as usual!  And not everyone is saved at the end... now *that* is a good thing! Of course, not for the characters...
just for us dark readers who like edgy-unexpected.

Omg this book was crazy good. I don't think I have screamed out loud so much reading a book as I did with this one. I scared my family by screaming at a part that totally suprised me. Which I'm not telling you have to read it to find out. There is a lot of action and excitiment in this book. I am still totally in love with Sam, I just can't get enough of him. When you get to the end of this book you will want to hurry and get to the next one to see what happens.

    Awesome

This book is the best in the series so far. I loved all the twists. Never could have guessed where you were taking it with Cole, so glad to be surprised. The whole Gemma issue is really cool too and I can' t wait to see where this all leads. With Heaven, loved her new ability. By the end of the book I felt so sad, but I'm glad Heaven is the person she is. I don't think, even for a minute, she isn't going to. Be able to do what she sets her mind to doing, and I also can t wait until it' s done so I can rejoice. Can t wait to dive into the next book now.

    more from this reviewer

I loved the first book in this series and couldn't wait to read

I loved the first book in this series and couldn't wait to read the next one. Charade had me hooked as soon as I started reading it. Charade picks up where the first book left off with Heven and Sam trying to return the scroll to its rightful location. Heven has grown to be a character I really love. She has become so much stronger and comfortable in her own skin.

Sam continues to be a dream. He does so much to be better than just a hellhound and focuses on keeping Heven safe. They fit so well together and are perfect for each other. Sam also is dealing with trying to help his brother Logan deal with what he is. Heven also has to deal with Cole and Kimber. Cole is such a loyal caring friend while I found myself not caring for Kimber anymore. She has become such an unloyal friend to Heven. I have to say Hebert knows how to throw in the plot twists and I didn't see the Cole secret coming although it all made sense later.

Heven and Sam meet Gemma and learn more about her and why she wants to help them. I loved Gemma as she was so strong and tough but still vulnerable. I found myself really feeling for her and wanting her to have happiness. I liked the sparing between her and Cole and would have loved to see more of them. Heven starts having nightmares and learns something truly sinister needs her to unlock the scroll. Sam decides they have to find a way to keep him out of Heven's mind.

Then it's finally time for the school trip that will give them the chance to put the scroll back. The group runs into some demons and obstacles along the way and some unforeseen issues arise. Heven and Sam both learn just how powerful they both are and that they can face anything. I have to say I was in tears by the end of this book due to the amazing cliffhanger. Will Heven and Sam complete their quest? Will they make it home safely? You will have to read this amazing book yourself to find out.

Overall Hebert delivered another amazing hit. I think I loved this book more than the first one. It had romance, heart stopping action and was just an all around great read. I loved seeing Heven and Sam get closer and fall even more in love. Hebert did a great job with excellent writing that flowed well and well developed characters. I highly recommend this book as a must read.

Charade is the second book in the Heven and Hell Series. I love

Charade is the second book in the Heven and Hell Series. I loved Masquerade the first book in the series. So many times the second book disappoints me. WOW, Charade didn’t disappoint me at all! It totally blew me away. The writing flowed smoothly making the book a fast read. The author has the ability to draw you into the story and the character development is amazing. There was plenty of action and adventure with Heven and Sam’s mission to return the scroll to the catacombs in Rome. Heven and Sam’s relationship is so sweet, loving, and protective. Who wouldn’t want a boyfriend like Sam? I didn’t know where the relationship between Cole and Heven was going…is it a love triangle, or something else? Then, the author revealed the twist. Typically, I see the twist coming in the book and can figure them out before the big reveal. Not in Charade, I was floored by the revelation of Cole and Heven’s relationship.
Charade introduced us to new characters: Gemma and Logan. I’m dying to know more about Gemma, a fallen angel. She is a great addition to the story. She’s tough and obviously has feelings for Cole. I cannot wait to find out more about the reason she lost her wings and was banished from heaven. I look forward to seeing Gemma and Cole’s relationship develop. Now Logan, I had mixed feelings about him. I don’t think he added anything to the story. Yes, he is Sam’s brother and makes attempt after attempt to cause a rift in Sam and Heven’s relationship.
Now to the cliff hanger….I wanted to scream no, no, no…you can’t do this to them! I don’t want to give away any spoilers. Now, I have to wait until the release of the next book.
I highly recommend this book for young adults and adults.
I received a copy of Charade from the read to review program at the Goodreads Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Fanatics Group. A special thanks to the Cambria Hebert for providing a copy of the book. It was an amazing read!

(Source: Purchased from amazon for only £1.92!)
This is book 2 in the ‘Heven and Hell’ series. **Warning** unavoidable spoilers for book 1 ‘Masquerade’.
So charade starts off where ‘Masquerade’ left off. Heven is now a supernatural treasure. She’s guarding the treasure map (scroll) and trying to avoid demons, whilst working at the ice-cream parlor and trying to spend time with Sam. Sam is still working multiple jobs whilst trying to look after Heven and his brother Logan, and things are still strained between Heven and her Mom, best friend Kimber, and Kimber’s boyfriend Cole.
Unfortunately for poor Heven, she keeps being attacked by Demons, and she’s still hasn’t got permission to go on the trip to Italy that she desperately needs to go on to return the scroll to the catacombs in Rome.

As if she hasn’t got enough to deal with with the demon attacks and the scroll, there are plenty of other surprises in store for Heven, with shocking revelations about Cole, Logan’s increasingly strange behaviour toward her, and her mother’s new boyfriend!

Add a fallen angel to the mix, a seriously hacked-off best friend, and a demon invading her head and Heven’s life is a seriously bumpy ride! Can she get the scroll back to where it belongs though? Why are so many people behaving so strangely towards her? And what sacrifices will need to be made for the greater good?

Wow! There is just so much going on in this book it’s difficult to know where to start!

Poor Heven is having a tough time of it, although she seems to be coping better with the removal of scars than she was. Sam is torn in two trying to look after both Heven and Logan, and Logan’s strange behaviour is beginning to concern him.

I really felt for Heven in this book, as she was trying so hard to be nice to people who really weren’t nice to her, and struggling to cope with some very strange behaviour from people. She was also strong enough to carry on no matter what the odds, whilst trying to help other people too.
I really didn’t like Logan. I thought he was shifty, and didn’t like the way he tried to come between Sam and Heven. I also disliked Heven’s mom and the way she was being nice to Heven again just because the scars were gone. I really can’t say how much Heven’s mom’s behaviour towards Heven annoys me. She should be supporting her daughter, not shipping her off to church camp!

I was really surprised at the revelations (don’t want to give too much away) about Cole and Kimber, I really didn’t see them coming! Although I actually liked the one about Cole – I thought it really added to the story!

There were also some great lines in Charade, this being my favourite: "If you cannot breathe, I will breathe for you. If your heart will not beat, mine will beat harder. If you do not live, neither will I."
(Sam to Heven) I just Loved this line!

I have to say that I loved Charade right from the beginning. As soon as I started reading, Cambria’s wonderful writing style just put me right back into Heven and Sam’s little world, and I was entranced! To be honest I made this book last as long as possible just cause I didn’t want to finish it! I can’t wait for the next book ‘Tirade’!

Overall this was a book with and interesting storyline, plenty of twists and turns, shocking revelations, and sweet romance. Highly recommended to anyone who likes young-adult fiction.
    9 out of 10.
