Overview

Book 2 in the Ecstasy series.

Waking up naked with a dead man at her side and a bloody dagger in her hand was not what Ciarra Storm expected from a night on the town. When every bit of evidence points to her, she panics. In the year 2106, criminals are incarcerated on the Moon. She flees and takes on another person's identity-an identity that forces her to travel to Ecstasy Island. Nothing can prepare her when she discovers the woman she is masquerading as has signed up for a two-week course in BDSM. Nor is she prepared for the man in charge of ensuring that she gets her money's worth.

Shawn Thorenson enjoys pleasure and Ecstasy Island is his playground. But something is missing in his life. Until he meets the beautiful, strong-willed Ciarra-or Kitty as he knows her. She's the ""something"", the woman he's been searching for.

But secrets have a way of coming out, and Shawn's determination to uncover Kitty's leads to a shocking revelation when a murderer strikes on Ecstasy Island-a deadly assassin whose name might turn out to be Ciarra Storm.

I wouldn't rush for this one

This book was just ok in my opinion. The sex scenes were extremely steamy and there were many of them. However, while I love a steamy book, I think the story development, the romance developement, would have been improved by more conversation and less sex. It started to grate how Shawn knew something was wrong and instead of figuring it out and having a real conversation about it with her, he would just have sex with her. Ciarra's reactions from running scared to not confessing to Shawn that she was probably wanted for a murder was all understandable. I found myself wishing that Shawn would sometimes push the conversation a little bit instead of taking the easy way out to instigate sex. I'm sure this was a writing ploy to direct the plot, but I found it a weak point to the story.

    I Also Recommend:

    Had potential; Disappointing

I had never read anything by this author before, but the book discription sounded promising. The plot had real potential for drama and thrilling scenes, but I found the characters to be unrealistic and unsympathetic . The female character, Ciarra Storm, was supposed to be being framed for murder, and because she couldn't remember the events leading up to the murder even thought she might have done it. As such, she shouldn't have been so easily distracted by a good-looking guy, and a bunch of sex. Then while she was trying to escape using another woman's identity and destination, she inadvertantly lands on a planet dedicated to sex, and signed up for a course in BDSM. This should have had great potential for funny and exciting scenes to relieve obvious tension from the basic storyline, but they lacked realistic reactions because this woman, who had never before been interested in anything remotely as spicy as BDSM, would go from being frightened and freaked out to suddenly being overwhelmingly hot and bothered. If I were wanted for a murder that I couldn't remember committing, I think it would take a lot of convincing to get me to let go of that worry, and a lot more work by the doms involved to get me to loosen up enough to enjoy something as potentially scary as BDSM for a newbie. Over all, Ciarra's performance left me yawning and totally unsympathetic with her character. Then there was the male character, Shawn Thorenson, who fell in love with Cierra because she looked like another woman he used to love . . . I'm sorry, but that is a major turn OFF! While I might consider trying another book by McKade in the hopes that her writing has caught up to her plot potentials, The Charade, left me frustrated, a little bored, and disappointed.
