Charlie and the Chess Set is a wonderful children's book. I had a real hard time putting it down so just gave up and read all 88 pages in one setting. The characters become lifesize and so real that I could almost picture them on the chess board. And I really enjoyed the values that it teaches children such as honesty, integrity, etc. Charlie's relationship to his Dad was a delight and reminded me of when my dad tried to teach me how to play chess. I think it should be in every child's library both at school and at home!

12-year-old Charlie hopes for a video game for Christmas.  When he gets a chess set he is upset and storms to his room. Later her returns and is given a lesson on how the pieces move by each of the pieces. Fun and interesting.
