Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
A Charlie Brown Christmas first aired in 1965, and for many of us Christmas just wouldn't be the same without this classic tale of a boy's search for the true meaning of Christmas. A beautifully illustrated volume celebrating this beloved holiday TV classic, A Charlie Brown Christmas: The Making of a Tradition, will be treasured by Peanuts fans of all ages.
Children's Literature
Rather than using a book to generate a movie, A Charlie Brown Christmas puts the dialogue of a television special right on the printed page along with all of our favorite Peanuts characters. The story is familiar and worthy of repeating season after season. Charlie Brown is dejected by all the "greedy buying and selling that had become Christmas" but is unable to pull together his friends for a peaceful and successful performance of their holiday play. His efforts to bring just the right Christmas tree to the stage leave him even more dejected when the one tiny tree he finds falls to the ground with the weight of a single ornament. "Everything I touch gets ruined!" he moans. But spurred by the sweet innocence of Linus, the others decorate the little tree until it becomes a beautiful centerpiece for the season. Each Peanuts character in the story provides a "teachable moment"¾Charlie Brown's idealism, Sally's youthful selfishness, Lucy's arrogance, Linus' thoughtful caring. It is a story of simplicity, sincerity and friendship that reminds readers of the essence of the Christmas holiday with humor and page after page of well-loved artwork. 2001, Little Simon, $5.99. Ages 4 up. Reviewer: Karen Leggett

New way to enjoy this classic story

I enjoyed this nook book (the most expensive purchase for me to date), however it was worth it. My children love the interaction with the characters, and the decorating of the Christmas tree is fun for kids of all ages. The song at the end was a nice surprise. This is one we will be re-reading for years to come.

    Get the App!

The book is nice if you just want a book but the text is too small to read without magnifying lenses. The app is more like the show and is absolutely delightful plus it costs less!

    Classic Peanuts

This is a book worth making a yearly tradition of reading. The true story of Christmas is presented through a cast of colorful characters. If you're a child of the 60's it will bring back happy memories.

I love it.....my toddler, not so much.

I love this book! But I may have jumped the gun by thinking my 2 year old would sit through the whole book, lol! She loved the first 5 pages and the song at the end though. Can't wait till she's old enough to read it all with me :)

Good Christmas story - hard to read

This book reproduces the paper book very well. It may be good on a tablet, but the text is too small for the color nook.
The colors are sharp and the story is good for small children, but the format does not allow the user to make any adjustments to text or brightness. Not so good for grandmother eyes.

    Great Holiday Book

This was a wonderful interactive book for the holidays. My children ages 3 and 9 both enjoyed this book and we read this everynight along with another holiday book. My 3 year old still wants to read it even though the holidays are over. Great pictures.
