Overview

We discovered seven orphaned fox pups in our backyard. We adopted them and helped them, without interfering with their natural development. It was a wonderful experience watching them grow, play and learn to survive all summer. Brave, but careful Charlie became the leader, after asserting his authority to George who challenged him. We fell in love with Susie the prettiest vixen, who came back to visit us, after they moved away to find their own territory. Stevie was the runt of the pack, but with the help of others, he did just fine. Shy Mary lost a toe, and had a bad experience with a caterpillar. We were amazed how Charlie managed to boost Stevie's confidence, and how George ended up with "feather mouth." Angry looking Nancy was always on guard, the whole family learned to rely on her constant alertness. We watched in horror Peter's bloody nose, after running into Mirci Catchmousky, our cat. They were our babies for one summer. They grew up and moved away, but they will stay in our hearts and memories for the rest of our lives.

Meet the Author

Erika M Szabo was born and raised in Hungary. Helping people is natural to her; she's been working in the medical field all her life. Erika was introduced to the art of healing with herbs by her grandma; she became an Alternative medical practitioner. Erika's website is www.erikamszabo.com, she writes educational books and novels. She learned to love and respect animals from her parents, especially from her father. He risked his neck climbing up a tree to put a fallen baby squirrel back into the nest. He didn't mind ruining the wall, while he hammered a platform under the clumsily built willow nest. He fixed the broken beak of a young stork with - of course what else - duct tape. But it worked; the stork came back next summer to nest on top of the school building. This book is dedicated to Michael, Erika's father.
