Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
McCarthy's fans won't be disappointed by this fast-paced, steamy contemporary, the fourth installment of the Fast Track series (after 2010's Hot Finish). A 10-minute conversation clears up 10 years worth of heartache and regrets between former first loves Kendall Holbrook and Evan Monroe. Now both professional NASCAR drivers racing for the same team, with rookie Kendall striving to prove herself and Evan attempting to overcome a disappointing season, the reunited lovers don't make any wrong turns on their way to the bedroom. There are few tangible obstacles to their relationship, but Kendall must learn to trust her feelings for Evan, no matter what. McCarthy writes compelling characters and folds in plenty of humor as well as entertaining cameos by charismatic couples from previous books in the series. (Apr.)

What a disappointment! The storyline wouldn't have been soo bad if the characters were properly developed.....and interesting. If you are looking for great dialogue and banter - you've come to the wrong place.

## Seriously? That's their happy ending? Knocking up some other woman? WORST. HAPPY. ENDING. EVER.

I was so looking forward to this book; I have read all three prior books and fell in love with each of the characters. I really thought Evan's story would have been great. Unfortunately I feel the author just wrote the book to fulfill a contract. I found Evan's character not really likeable and really even believe able. Evan comes across like a little child. Kendall's character was not really developed either. The majority of the story was them in bed together. I really wanted to like Kendall and Evan's story but I just felt that so much was left out. Yes they have known each other ten years ago but there was no getting to know you now. I think if the author did a few flashbacks to their relationship when they were younger it would have been better. The ending was terrible, they get married (which was great) and then all of a sudden Evan finds himself fathering a child with another woman. I mean really, it was just drama for the sake of drama. To me, it just didn't need to be in the story. I think the author could have done a lot more with the book. I don't know if I will read another.

I love, love, love Erin's books! Especially The Fast Track series. But what happened? Evan has had things rough, and by book 3 they only got rougher. Now, in his own story...there's still no TRUE HAPPY ENDING!!! WTH? And did Erin REALLY have to do that to him at the end, after all the crap he'd already gone through since page 1??? Talk about deflating a reader so fast I felt smacked myself. I understand 'real life' happens, but he'd had so much 'real life' pain already...that his 'what-should-have-been-happy-ending' still ended up sucking, even with the girl! If I didn't love Evan so much, I would have drowned Kendall and her poor-me whining, wishy-washy attitude, then thrown this book out the window with how SAD it made me feel. No, actually, I'm angry! I feel jipped! My heart will always go out to this main, male character and how he had to put up with so much, yet still BARELY gets to see the sun rise. Erin, I love you, always will - and the parts with the french fries & commercial were great! Thank you for the spurts of giggles that got me through...<3 You will always ROCK at cracking me up! If there's another book, I'll be buying it, don't worry - praying Evan has something good to tell us in that one. =P

talk about a book that if possible should be rewritten. this is easily the worst book in the series. not much depth to the story. especially disappointing because there was so much potential in the beginning - evan as the misunderstood womanizer, kendall as the insecure heroine you could relate to and root for... all wasted. the book was quite dull and very repetitive. probably one of the worst that ms mccarthy has ever written.

Kendall Holbrook and Evan Monroe were lovers over a decade ago; for each it was their first precious love. However, they broke up with each suffering from regrets and blaming the other. Now Kendall has joined the same NASCAR racing team as Evan. Both are drivers with Kendall trying to prove she belongs with the big boys and Evan trying likewise after a disappointing season. When they chat, each realizes they wasted ten years over a misunderstanding. They become lovers and share a deodorant sponsorship but whereas he wants more she distrusts her feelings as they burned her once before. The latest Fast Track romance (see Hard and Fast, Flat Out Sexy and Hot Finish) is an entertaining trip around the oval with two likable drivers although the second chance at love plot is actually very linear. The key to this fast as a NASCAR race tale is Kendall's reluctance to take their relationship to another level because she believes her beloved Evan tried to defuse her dream when they were together the first time. With trademark Erin McCarthy humor and the return of the leads from previous entries, fans will enjoy the spin around the Fast Track. Harriet Klausner
