I'm a wife, a mom, and a dog lover. I'm also a taxi, problem fixer, extreme multi-tasker, and my kids' biggest fan in anything they do. I'm married to my high school sweetheart... how cool is that? Margaritas and sarcasm make me happy. Chocolate makes that happiness grow exponentially. People who make me laugh are my favorite kind of people. I believe Karma is a b*%ch who slaps back hard and mean people suck. I'm California born and raised, and I love the beach but hate the sand. And, of course, I believe Starbucks makes any day better. I'm the author of The Acceptance Series and Chasing Cassidy with more books soon to come.

When Zachary Stafford first set eyes on Cassidy Pope she was being beaten by her father. After witnessing the traumatic event, he made it his mission to befriend her. As the years pass, their relationship evolves and Cassidy not only gives Zack her friendship but her love, as well.
Cassidy spent her childhood being verbally and physically abused. The best part of her life is her friendship with the Stafford twins, Zack and Rylee. Although she tries to put on a brave front, the years of abuse have turned Cassidy into a woman filled with insecurities who doesn't believe she deserves love. Especially not the kind of love Zack has given her for the last twelve years.
On their wedding day, Cassidy's insecurities get the best of her and she does the one thing she knows how to do well...she runs. Zack is devastated and when he discovers why Cassidy ran, his devastation becomes fury. Long ago, Zack made Cassidy a promise he fully intends to keep and sets off on a journey to bring her back into his arms where she belongs.
Will Zack and Cassidy get their happily ever after, or will Cassidy's inner demons keep her from getting the only thing she ever wanted in this world? To be loved.

*** Gifted in exchange for an honest review *** If you love movies like Runaway Bride, then this book will be right up your alley. We start the story with the Wicked Uber Snobby Mother having chased away our heroine Cassidy just before she is due to walk down the isle - I was begging for her to stand up to this 'Bi@tch' while reading, but her insecurity got the better of her and she ran... But YAY Zack the Hero is going after her!!! The story focuses on Zack and Cassidy as they spend time in the house where they were supposed to spend their honeymoon in Hawaii, Zack goes to a lot of trouble to make sure that this will be the last time Cassidy runs, he hopes that he can show her finally that she is worthy of the love he has for her. When I was at about 48% I felt sometimes Cassidy was being rather dramatic and other times I understood how constant negative enforcement can make a person doubt even the most logical truths... on the one hand she's very lucky to have a Fiancee that loves her beyond measure, and is a billionaire!! But I do actually know how it feels to doubt your worth, when you can't see what it is about yourself that the one who loves you sees. Having felt insecure as a teenager/young adult. I am relating to all the emotional upheaval she is feeling, and that is what most readers want to do when reading a story, you get to live multiple lives when you get lost in a book, I guess that's why I always want to read books that have a HEA ( I am not one to read books that will leave me depressed for weeks!!) OK onto our Hero... Zack - oh he's Perfect, a swoonworthy hero who loves his girl! The 'special moments' he re-enacts to show Cassidy why they should be together forever #RomanceBliss. He is like the old knights of the round table - seriously I thought of him as sir Galahad or Galwain, fighting the dragons and demons of Cassidy's past. Rylee - Zack's twin and Cassidy's Best friend, she thinks of Cassidy as a sister and can't wait to make it official, so when she runs Rylee is not far behind Zack when she finds where she is, Rylee is determined to help Zack help Cassidy get over her demons. Cassidy has the worst parents you could imagine, and you cannot blame her for being so ready to run and hide behind the walls she has built since being a kid... As I read this story I couldn't help but wonder how on earth Zack and Rylee's mum had turned into such an Uber Bi@tch, but we find out slowly as the story develops. BUT love conquers all... and we have my much needed HEA by the end of the book. Thank you Ms Kelly for allowing me to review the book, as usual you have created a book with characters that feel real and relatable. I have enjoyed reading Cassidy's journey of discovering that Love can conquer all. I am very curious to see what you have in store for Rylee!!!
3.5 - "I've known you since we were six years old and I've loved you for as long as I can remember." Stars. I think you need to be in a certain mood to read and enjoy Chasing Cassidy, and in the main I really enjoyed it, but due to the subject matter it deals with, is very heavy on the angst and drama, if that’s not your thing then this is probably not the book for you. ”My instincts are always to run now.” It’s safe to say that Cassidy hasn’t had the greatest start in life, having suffered years of physical abuse by her alcoholic father her one light in the darkest of times has been Zach Stafford. Zach knows what she went through as a child, he made it his mission to put a stop to it, and even now, after she leaves him at the altar, loves her unreservedly. My happiness begins and ends with her. As you would expect Cassidy now older, and now living her own life away from her father’s poisonous influence has more than a few personal issues that she is dealing with (you get to experience a lot of what she went through with flashback paragraphs throughout the book told from her and Zach’s POVs). Low self-esteem and lacking confidence, are but the tip of the iceberg. And after running out of her Wedding to Zach, and their subsequent reconnection in Hawaii, you are given the full story from both sides. A few secrets are revealed as the book progresses, as well as a lot of self-recrimination, anger, acceptance, facing up to the past, dealing with the consequences of your actions, and the rebuilding of trust as the foundation of a strong and healthy relationship, and not forgetting an extremely large amount of crying from all parties, so much so that I almost became immune to it towards the end. ”To forgive is to love.” This wasn’t an easy book to read by any means, but if you can pull yourself through the rollercoaster of feelings and emotions that you and the characters ultimately go on, you do come out the other side the better for it… I also found lots of wine and large bars of chocolate helped greatly too! ARC generously provided, in exchange for the above honest review.
I didn’t know what to expect when diving into Chasing Cassidy. I was a little afraid because in the past D. Kelly has left me a sobbing mess, I wanted to read this badly but I was seriously afraid of another ugly cry. I’m happy to report that I did get choked up at times and get teary eyed, but no ugly cry for me while reading about Cassidy and Zack. I did get angry many times, but Ms. Kelly gave us another amazing story about two people who truly love each other but were put in a crappy situation with an evil mother standing in the way of true happiness. Cassidy leaves Zack at the alter, Zack is her one true love and the man she’s always loved. “My life isn’t complete without you in it. I know love is real because of you. I am loved because of you, and most importantly I can love because of you.” This was written very well, the characters were developed well enough where I was able to fall in love with them and feel what they were feeling. Cassidy is a broken girl who has always tried her best to live her life and move forward with people who cared about her. There is abuse, Cassidy has been abused by her father most of her life and this is a story about how a woman tries to overcome the emotional and physical abuse she’s live through. Zack is a beautiful human with a huge heart, he’s sexy, rich and absolutely amazing. Cassidy is a fool to have left him, but I also can understand that there are other factors weighing in. I enjoyed reading Cassidy and Zack’s story and I’m sure others will love it as well. Ms. Kelly always gives me the warm and fuzzies as well as the ugly cry, but Chasing Cassidy was all about the warm and fuzzies and I enjoyed every second of it. “You own my heart and soul. I’m yours, too…forever.”
