Three hard-partying fifteen year olds form a special friendship. Together, they try to cope with the problems they all face in their home lives. Trust is the bond that cements their friendship. But can this friendship, with even the strongest of bonds, survive the choices they made one dark November night?

Mick Salisbury and his friends, Brody and Aaron, all struggle with personal demons. Their fathers have not turned out to be the positive role models young boys deserve. One is dead, one is in prison, and the other betrayed his family and refuses to accept responsibility for devastating their lives. In response to their unsettled lives, the three boys have turned to rum and Coke and late nights out to ease their pain. Mick knows what they are doing carries a risk of consequence that may be more than he bargained for, but he is powerless to stop.

CHEATED tells about a series of events that lead to the tragic death of a homeless man, and the attempt to cover up the crime and avoid punishment. Author Patrick Jones takes readers into the mind of Mick Salisbury, where they will learn about a love for his devoted, hard-working mother and a hatred of the man he refers to as his ex-dad. Mick feels a sense of betrayal from his parents and a sense of self-betrayal as he deals with his role in this deadly mistake.

Written in a straight-forward, no-nonsense style, CHEATED will have teens and adults alike captivated by the thoughts and feelings of this tortured young man. Readers will no doubt feel a mix of sympathy and horror as a few short weeks of Mick's life unfold on the pages of this well-crafted YA novel.

    It Broke My Heart

Cheated is about a 15-year-old named Mick Salisbury who has felt like he has been cheated in life. His two friends Aaron and Brody feel similarly, one night something happens to these three friends that in a split second changed the path that their life was on. Mick tries to figure out what road he went down that got him to where he is now. This book broke my heart but it was well worth it. Reading this book i felt so many emotions and those emotions i felt so strong. Cheated is amazing, interesting, sensational, emotional, and heart-wrenching in all the right ways.

    Cheated

Cheated, by Patrick Jones, is a book about a teenage boy named Mick. Mick has gone throughout his life struggling with lying. He struggles with this because his dad betrayed him & his mother when his dad was caught cheating & divorced his mom. Ever since, Mick has always wanted to know his dad's reasoning for lying & betraying his family's trust. Although, every time he asks his father about it, his father always avoids it. Mick also struggles with fitting in with his peers. His two closest friends are actually the people later on in the book, that force him to make a decision that could change his entire life & all he has to do... is lie.
This book was very interesting & I enjoyed it. Although, I think this is a book mostly for teenage boys, it still had some good moral stories in it & had a good story line: which also makes it good for some girls, if they like murder stories. It is also a very quick read & a good page turner. This writing was a little under my normal reading level, but it was still an overall good book.

Never Wanting to Put the book Down

My name is Kristen Blodgett, and I'm a sophomore at Holt High School. We had a book to read everyday on half day Wednesdays; the book I chose was Cheated by Patrick Jones. My librarian suggested this book; she told me that a lot of people who don't really like reading, liked this book. I took her advice and checked out the book. Reading is not the first thing I would do in my free time, but I enjoyed reading Cheated.
This book is about the main character, Mick Salisbury, also known as '151' going through tough times and a lot of choices. From his friend, Brody saying his mom's hot, to his recent break up with Nicole. Like every other high school student, he likes to go out and drink with his friends. He makes some bad decisions that defaced the rest of his life. I wondered if he'd ever learn his lesson? Mick's parents remind me of my own, his mom there raising him most of the time.
I would give this book 3 stars. Although, I liked Cheated it was more of a guys read. The main story of the book was good, and relatable earning, 3 stars. Any teenager going through tough times will like this book.
