More About This Book

Overview

Joan Ketterling is an aspiring achaeologist on an exclusive dig in the Middle East. The recently uncovered site offers a fantastic opportunity for the young graduate student, but long distance has been causing friction with her estranged boyfriend back home, Kevin, who's been having trouble meeting her needs lately,

When a late night, sultry phone call is cut short, Joan is left feeling unsatisfied and underappreciated - that is, until a mysterious, prehensile, tentacle-like creature emerges from the depths of the dig site.

Joan immediately sets to work examining the strange but friendly creature... but her scientific curiosity is quickly supplanted by something more carnal as the creature begins to touch her in ways she never before thought possible.

After all, in the middle of nowhere, thousands of miles from home... who needs boyfriends, anyway?

---

Excerpt:

The creature’s feelers touched her left shoulder, gradually wrapping around it, and began pulsing and contracting, almost as if it was giving her a massage. The move immediately put her at ease, though she couldn’t imagine why an alien creature giving her a massage should do so. Her mind began to drift back to Kevin and, despite the moment she was in, she closed her eyes for a second and thought of him.

She opened them again quickly as the creatures feelers moved around the back of her neck. The tentacle was gentle, however, and she still did not sense any sort of a threat, despite what could have been a very vulnerable position.

The creature rolled around to run along her neck. “Oooh, that’s cold,” she said, talking to it again. Somehow, saying words to it made it seem more like a tame animal– and safer.

Goose bumps immediately began to form around her neck and run down her arms as the creatures cold temperature registered on a more sensitive area. As if sensing her discomfort, the feelers and rest of the creature warmed up, as if by magic. She welcomed the change in temperature, even as she marveled at the mechanism that might cause it.

“Wow,” she said in a gentle voice, almost as if talking to her boyfriend. “That’s better.”

The feelers moved around her neck and caressed both sides of it. One of the feelers remained centered in the back. The creature then proceeded to rub and knead, giving her the best neck rub she’d ever had in her life.

“You’re good at this,” she said, with a laugh.
She knew it may have sounded silly talking to something she wasn’t even sure could hear. If it could hear, she doubted it understood language at all, or English specifically. But it felt more natural that way.

The feelers found the tight muscles running from her neck under her collarbone. It focused attention on those.

“Yes, right there,” Joan purred.

It felt so good, maybe because it had been so long since she had any sort of affectionate human touch. She didn’t care where it was coming from, though her eager embrace of something couldn’t explain surprised her a little.
?
Joan’s breathing became relaxed. There was no nervousness left, just an exhilarating feeling of relief. The feeler on the right side of her neck inched down to her chest. She was wearing a sleeveless shirt with spaghetti straps and a bra. The creature hesitated as it reached the edge of the fabric, turning towards her, as if waiting for her permission to continue.

“That’s right, keep going,” she said on a whim, her mind drifting into a fantasy. “I want you to touch me.”
