R. J. Thorn, PhD, is Retiree Resident Associate at Argonne National Laboratory. In a distinguished career that has spanned half a century, he has published scores of articles in the journals of chemistry and physics and organized or chaired numerous conferences and symposia. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal High Temperature Science and Materials and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
