Childhood crush...Lifetime love...Never letting go...

Elaina Morrison has loved Neil McManus her whole life. She doesn't remember a time when she didn't love him. Through heartbreaking tragedy and years of separation, her love holds true...until life stomps all over her heart, shattering her perfect dream, teaching her how hard it is to let go.
Real life doesn't have anything on romantic dreams though, as these two have learned over and over again. It sucks big time, leaving painful scars in its wake.
But Neil isn't giving up. He's a soldier who has endured years of longing and sacrifice to wait for his girl.  He's fought his way through battles before, and this is one he can't afford to lose, on any level.  Neil has a plan.  He's going in fighting, to make Elaina see what he already knows...That she will forever be his Cherry Girl...

Meet the Author

A New York Times bestselling author who has been reading romance novels since she picked up that first Barbara Cartland book at the tender age of thirteen. And it's a safe bet she'll never stop, because now she writes them too. Granted, Raine's stories are edgy enough to turn Ms. Cartland in her grave, but to her way of thinking a hot, sexy hero never goes out of fashion. Ever! Writing books pretty much fills her days now and she's always busy. Raine has a prince of a husband, and two brilliant sons to pull her back into the real world if the writing takes her too far away. She loves to hear from readers and to chat about the characters in her books. You can connect with her on Facebook or visit her blog at www.RaineMiller.com to find out what she's working on now.

What can I say about Cherry Girl other then it is quite possibly one of the most beautiful love stories I've read in a long time. Raine Miller nails it again. This book is standalone but if you've read The Blackstone Affair series you will be familiar with the characters. The story centers around Neil and Elaina, they have known each other since they were children. Elaina immediately falls in love with Neil, but how does a 10 year old profess her undying love to a 17 year old? Years pass and two remain close, it isn't until Neil is sent off to war that you start to see a shift in feelings. Fast forward 4 years later and Neil and Elaina are finally able to act of the feelings they have been harboring for one and other. But just as fast as they come together, they are torn apart. I don't want to write anymore because I don't want to give the whole story away. But I can honestly say this is Hand's Down Raine Miller's best work to date. Please check this book out. You will not be disappointed!!

This was a very sweet story of love and misunderstandings, written beautifully as Miller has us accostumed to. I would only object that the misunderstanding that the story revolts around took perhaps too long to resolve. It just did not make much sense. But then again, the girl was only 18 at the time, so I guess that's what immaturity does to you. Other than that, the book was great and it was a little bit of treat for us, fans of the Blackstone series, to have the opportunity to learn more about the secondary characters.

My copy had all of the editor notes & was very distracting when trying to read. Also not understanding why it took so long to resolve the misunderstanding if they loved each other so much.

I sat down and started reading this book yesterday morning and could not stop until it I finished it. I read the entire book in one sitting. It was excellent. After having read Cherry Girl, all I have to say is that I love Neil McManus just as much as I love Ethan Blackstone!!! Wow!! Oh Wow!! Elaina and Brynne are two very lucky women to have such men love them as deeply as Neil and Ethan love them. Cherry Girl was an extremely powerful love story, and went on to prove that true love really does stand the test of time, no matter what fate may throw in its path. This story goes to show that it is absolutely true that "And of these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." Now, I am dying to read the next chapter in Neil and Elaina's story just as much as I am dying to read Rare and Precious Things, the next chapter in Ethan and Brynne's story. Oh, and please let me not forget to add how much I am dying to read Ivan and Gabrielle's story!!! If you are looking for an extremely well written book that is heartwarming, heart-wrenching at times, and extremely emotional all the time, then Cherry Girl is the book for you. Yes, you can read it without having read any of the other books in the Blackstone Affair, although I highly employ you to read the all the books in the Blackstone Affair as well, because you will not be disappointed. Raine Miller never disappoints her fans. She is a phenomenal writer and always gives her readers her best. Cherry Girl was absolutely phenomenal, and I thank Raine Miller for sharing Neil and Elaina's story with us, and I hope to continue to read about them along with the rest of the other characters in the Blackstone Affair in future books. I am also hoping that Ian Morrison gets his own story. Very well done, Raine Miller!! Very well, indeed!!

Readers of the Blackstone series by Raine Miller first met Neil McManus and Elaina Morrison in Ethan's and Bryn's books, but 'Cherry Girl' is Neil's and Elaina's own story. We finally get to see how Ethan's best friend and the sweet Elaina that works at BSI got to be where they are. I was so excited to see that we got to have a back story for Neil and Elaina. I absolutely adore Neil. He is not only gorgeous, he is loving, gentle, and thoughtful. He calls Elaina his 'Cherry Girl' because of her hair, and, even though he is seven years older than Elaina, and a friend of her older brother Ian, he is never anything other than sweet and caring to her. He's like a second brother to her and son to her parents, although Elaina knows from the first time she meets Neil that he is 'the one' for her. And, surprise surprise, the feeling, we find later, was absolutely mutual, as time went on and Elaina got older. Their story is filled with love as well as heartache, so much which could have been avoided if they had just communicated. Ultimately, though, 'Cherry Girl' is about second chances, and true love, hallmarks of Raine's books. Raine Miller does an excellent job of not only creating characters that are extremely real and likable, but of writing about them very realistically, even though she's telling a story about a culture and place not native to her own life. As ever, Raine has done a fabulous 4.5 star job with 'Cherry Girl,' and I can't recommend this book enough.

If you are looking for a book about true love, loss, years apart, and second chances, this is the book for you!  Cherry Girl is the love story between heroine Elaina Morrison and hero Neil McManus which begins when they were very young/too young to date.  As time passes enough to make a possible relationship between them a reality, they finally find what they have been waiting for though it doesn't last like most fairytales do because of a third party.  I won't provide any spoilers because the rest of their story is worth the time to get to the last page.  Also, this book is included in the Blackstone Affair series by Raine Miller and is just as sweet/exciting as the love story between Brynne Bennett and Ethan Blackstone. Thank you, Raine - Elaina and Neil are definitely soul mates and this book brought tears to my eyes.

Raine Miller has a gift for creating the perfect guy. That fantasy man that you wish was out there somewhere! I don't think that's necessarily easy since I've read a lot of novels with guys not so great. Love her books and looking forward to the next one!

~Reviewed by ANN & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog Elaina Morrison knows what it feels like to experience unrequited love. Neil McManus is a man who has always been in her life but hasn’t been more than a good friend of hers. When tragedy strikes and they are separated, Elaina learns how hard it is to let go. On one night when she gets pissed drunk and encounters her cheating boyfriend, Neil is there, as always, but something is different now. Coming back, Neil finally realizes what he almost lost and what he cherishes the most. Brimming with angst and drama, Raine Miller slathers on the emotion in this book. It’s easy to believe that there is too much drama in the book, but what makes it acceptable is the fact that Neil and Elaina react in believable ways so that it doesn’t come across as over the top or unnecessary. Though technically this book is part of the Blackstone Affair series, CHERRY GIRL can be read as a standalone. Neil and Elaina’s romance seethes with passion, drama and angst, so much so that it becomes a lethal combination and also a trademark for Miller now. I’ve now come to expect all this and more when I pick up a Raine Miller book. While I can’t say that Neil swept me off my feet like Ethan Blackstone did, I do think that he is such a great soldier and hero. With a heart of gold, Neil always tries to do what’s best for Elaina, making him the perfect man that she always believed him to be.
