Meet the Author

Shawn Kimbro worked his way through college catching and selling catfish from TVA lakes. Over thirty years later, he still fishes every chance he gets, usually for striped bass on Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay. A frequent speaker to fishing clubs, environmental groups, and conservation organizations, he is recognized across the Chesapeake region as a leading voice for light tackle fishing. When he isn’t working at George Washington University, he serves as a Maryland state delegate to the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) and is the coordinator for the Careful Catch organization – an effort co-sponsored by the Boat U.S. Foundation, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and CCA Maryland. His innovative big-fish-catching techniques have been written about in publications like the Baltimore Sun, the Washington Post, The Annapolis Capital, Chesapeake Bay Magazine, and PropTalk. He is the author of the popular fishing and conservation oriented website Chesapeakelighttackle.com.
