I bought the book for my 92 year-old mother who wanted to take up chess again.  We both found the algebraic notation employed by the author to be difficult to follow.  He uses an alpha-numeric system that is not intuitive.  We are using a different book that uses a chess piece name and number system much easier to understand.  We also found many mistakes  in the sample games used for instructions.  We both found the book frustrating to use and we are returning the book.
