Meet the Author

A historian and a novelist, Mari Sandoz (1896–1966) is the author of Crazy Horse: The Strange Man of the Oglalas and Old Jules, both available in Bison Books editions.

 

Alan Boye is a professor of English at Vermont’s Lyndon State College. He is the author of Holding Stone Hands: On the Trail of the Cheyenne Exodus (Nebraska 2001).

    This is NOT history cleaned-up!

    A must read for those interested in discovering a dark, not often heard chapter in American history. Cheyenne Autumn shines light on a proud people forced from their land and pursued to near extermination by 19th century whites and U.S. Government. You do not find any information of this kind in school text history books. Your eyes will open and your heart will ache for the suffering, humiliation, and lost heritage of the Northern Cheyenne.
