Focusing entirely on the chia seed, this title offers enough individuality to stand apart from other nutritional supplement health books while employing the recent popularity of juice diets and green smoothie trends. Hoffman, founder of Mamma Chia, an organic chia-based food purveyor, begins with an overview of the seeds, including their uses in ancient American Indian, Mexican, and South American medicine, and a summary of their nutritional value and healthful properties. The majority of the work includes various ways to incorporate chia into your normal routine and supplies an integrated 30-day meal plan to jump-start vitality levels. The author even offers detailed breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack recipes. Accompanying the text are dozens of charts, tables, and constructive "Seeds of Wisdom" sections; particularly helpful is an ingredients list of kitchen staples to utilize with the diet. As a whole, this book succeeds as a motivational wellness tool laying the groundwork for the benefits of salvia hispanica and provides supportive instruction for embracing a vitality lifestyle. The diet category is full of 30-day fix-it books that make lofty promises about just how much change can be achieved in a month. Hoffman, founder and CEO of Mamma Chia, the original chia seed beverage, offers another such title but with a new twist: her path to perfection is liberally sprinkled with chia seeds—rich in omega-3 fatty acids, protein, fiber, calcium, and antioxidants. Hoffman extols the virtues of chia with an infomercial level of enthusiasm. Her diet is a variation on the ubiquitous low-cal, gluten-free, low-sugar diet that avoids red meat. The 30-day plan, with chia-sprinkled recipes (for example, soft fish tacos with chia pico de gallo; chia Caesar dressing) is enhanced by her recommendations regarding exercise, pleasure, meditation, and ways to expand one’s sense of belonging and community. Granted, following this integrative approach should result in positive change with or without consuming chia. That the author believes that chia is the source of all things good is clear; whether the reader will swallow the story, or the seeds, is another question. Loved this book! The tips are really easy to follow. Janie's story is inspirational - but not "preachy." Highly recommend!

Because of Janie I now know the importance of Chia seeds and how much of a positive effect it can have on you. I now incorporate Chia Seeds in everything and follow Janie's helpful guidelines. She is an inspirational woman and if this beautiful super seed can help her it can help anyone! A must-have book!

I heard about chia seeds and knew they were super good for you but I didn't know how good until I bought this book. Now I get it! Janie is the real deal. The recipes are easy and I feel 100% better in just a couple of weeks. I highly recommend this book. I bought it for my daughter too and she loves it and is now giving it to all of her friends. Don't let the simple cover fool you. There is a lot of substance to this book.

Great read and worth picking up. The tips are a realistic approach to life with the realization that life can be challenging and throw you off your game. Her tips along with her story about how chia changed her life is fantastic and inspirational.  If you read this book, I am certain you will immediately become a fan of Chia Seeds and incorporate them into your daily life. These little seeds are amazing and have made a significant impact in my health as well.

I really liked this book. The tips are practical and easy to incorporate in your life - and I'm already starting to really feel a difference in my body. I think chia gives me more energy and causes me to eat less overall. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to improve their health.

As a working mom of two who is often run down, I am always searching looking for easy, natural and healthy ways to gain more energy. Chia Vitality is just that! It has taught me that I need to nourish my mind and soul just as much as my body. It also offered s many creative ways to eat chia beyond just throwing them in yogurt and smoothies. GREAT read for any busy person looking to gain more energy!
