Overview

Author Adam Selzer's long-awaited ebook exclusive on GHOSTS OF CHICAGO explores many of the famous and lesser-known haunted spots in Chicago, including:

- The Myths and Mystery of Hull House (the most in-depth investigation ever of the Devil Baby, "garden of evil," haunted room, and early history of the building).

- Ghosts of the Iroquois Theatre disaster that continue to haunt the Oriental Theatre and the Alley of Death

- The Eastland Disaster and the ghosts that haunt Harpo studios.

- Fresh information about The Excalibur, The Liar's Club, Fado, and other famously haunted spots.

- Advice for ghost hunters on where to go - and where to avoid.

- Fascinating takes on Bachelor's Grove Cemetery, The Congress Hotel, Resurrection Mary, and other famous haunts of Chicago, including some intriguing info on possible ghosts of the victims of H.H. Holmes

Selzer, a veteran of the Chicago ghost tour industry (as chronicled in his book, YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD GIVES ME THE CREEPS (Lllewelyn 2009)) digs deep into his collection of old records, newspaper archives, and first-hand interviews to debunk some stories and add fuel to the fire for others, offering great advice on where ghost hunters should go in Chicago - and where they shouldn't waste their time. This full-length book contains an active table of contents and a selection of "the Chicago Unbelievable Blog's Greatest Hits" in the appendix.

Cleared up a lot of questions

I went on a ghost tour last month and wondered how many of the stories were true. Selzer pretty much answers all my questions. He basically disproves a couple of my favorites (or at least the story behind them), but he comes up with enough cool stuff I didn't know to make up for it, and he does it all without coming off as a jerk. In fact, he's pretty funny. It's not as funny as his other ghost book, Your Neighborhood Gives Me the Creeps, but he cracks a lot of jokes, and gives really good advice on where to go to look for ghosts in Chicago. Best info out there on Hull House and a lot of the other places that turn up on tours and TV shows. Selzer gets a bit too skeptical for me, but I guess that's better than those guys who believe every dumb thing they hear.
