Editorial Reviews

Chicago Tribune
Chicagoans are fierce boosters of their architectural heritage, and this little book--which pairs vintage images with their contemporary counterparts (the corner where the Columbus Memorial building stood in 1915 is now occupied by Old Navy, for instance)--will be of great interest to those who want to deepen their knowledge of our urban landscape.

The City Shown in a Different Light

I just checked this book out of a library and now I am going to buy my own copy. I work in the Loop and have often taken the cityscape for granted. This book helped provided a nice background and history of the downtown Loop area. I plan on taking more walking tours now on my lunch hour. The photography is terrific, both the historical and contemporary scenes. Great Book!!!

    Chicago Guidebook

I just finished reading the reviews so I couldn't wait to purchase this book. As a long-time resident of Chicago, it was delightful to find interesting facts that I didn't know. The photographs are fabulous. I especially loved the Chicago Board of Trade photographs and the street scenes around the Loop area. I highly recommend getting this great book.

    Great Mother's Day Gift

I just received my mother's day gift early from my son and I was quite pleased in getting something other than flowers. This great book really make me homesick and I just called by son that I would be visiting Chicago soon armed with my book to visit my old haunts. I love my gift.

    Speechless

I used to live in Chicago, and the Loop area has always been the best part of it all. There you'll find great old buildings mixed with modern buildings like the Big John. This is a great book for those who want to become familiar with the Loop and Chicago area.
