Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Meredith Kiger
One in a series of “Did You Know?” books, this title features little known facts about fourteen different animals. The animals have been chosen with little relationship to one another but have some unusual characteristic that would appeal to early elementary students. They include a sloth, a salamander, a cheetah, a hyena, a chicken, and a shark. The casual layout and cartoon-like drawings of animals in often humorous situations add to the appeal for the target reader. Used as an accompaniment to a unit or center about animals and their behavior, the book could provide an interesting addition to more serious study. A page of more fun facts, one for each animal is included at the end of the book. Even older readers may find the facts to be of interest. Reviewer: Meredith Kiger, Ph.D.; Ages 5 to 8.
