O'brien is the premier writer on Pittsburgh sports teams

As a long time Steelers fan and avid reader of related material, I can honestly say that Jim O'Brien lends the most insight into the franchises and the city he writes about. Of course, he should be able to do this...he lives in Pittsburgh. His books provide the reader with insight that is on a different level than any other authors that write about the Steelers. Most of his material recounts his personal interviews and interaction with Steelers of old and new. I have read everyone (currently 6) of his books that are directly related to the Steelers and none of the wrirings have disappointed. Until I had read his first book I felt like I was just a fan who followed the Steelers as thouroughly as possible - even though I live 250 miles away from Pittsburgh in Western NY. After reading his books I felt like I was part of the inner-circle of Steelers past and present. His stories tell the truth, although never exploitive or overly praising. If you are a Steelers fan you need to read his books for a complete understanding of the players, coaches, owners, city, and franchise!!!
