    I love this book!!

My favorite is the first edition, but I like the updated info in the more recent editions.
I used this book to teach my children about the birds and the bees. I had it out in the open for them to look at the pictures from the time they were very young. Naturally, as they aged, more questions would arise. It made discussing the facts of life comfortable and natural. I made sure to discretely tuck it away in my room when young friends came over.
I like that there is still enough mysery left for the young adult to discover on his/her own, at the appropriate time, and still be quite educated about his/her own body and how it works.
My adult daughter, now, loves to share it with her husband and look at all the stages the embryo and subsequent fetus is reaching each week of her pregnancy.
    I highly recommend this book!

A CHILD IS BORN is a true CLASSIC

Although the photographs in this book were taken some years ago with then cutting edge technology of in-utero photography of the developing baby, the photographs in this book remain among the most powerul and moving I have every seen. I first purchased this book when it was originally published after seeing some of the photos in a magazine --
    LIFE I think.

I have looked at it regularly over the years and each time am filled with the marvel and miracle of what these images capture. When my daughter became pregnant with her first child a few months ago, the first gift I gave her was this book. She and her husband have beautiful images of the miracle they are participating in and the incredible changes along the way. And by, the way, there is excellent, concise text as well.

I recommend this book to anyone, absolutely anyone. It was an incredible achievement at its original publication, and that achievement holds its place today. Personally, I find these images more potent and more beautiful than the new 4-d ultrasound. Their beauty is timeless. This is a book to treasure and go back to again and again.

A must have for any mom (or dad) to be

This book offers the motivation any mom or dad needs to get through those long nine months. The photos alone can bring you to tears in wonder and amazement.

    A Masterpiece

This book, and the film of it, are probably the best material there is to teach children how babies are conceived, live in the womb and are brought into the world. Very concise.

You have to at least look at the pictures!

I got this book from my mom who had the original version from the 70's. She got it about 12 years ago when she was pregnant with her last child. I loved this book durring my last pregnancy and I am loving it again for my current pregnancy. This book actually helped me to concieve the child I am pregnant with now by educating me about the days and cycles so I knew when to try. 2 tries and we were pregnant! This book makes me excited for every passing month. I look forward to seeing what she will look like this month and what stages she is going through. It makes me feel closer to her. I think everyone should have one.

    Beautiful!

This book would make a wonderful gift for an expectant couple. The pictures of the fetus are absolutely stunning. It makes the growing baby a reality in the way that just reading about it cannot do.

    FANTASTIC !!!

I've had this book since 1994 and am now pregnant again, I saved my book and it's great to have as a reminder book of how babies are developed. I wouldn't mind if I was chosen to be photographed giving birth, infact if I could get in contact with him, I'd think he'd do it, considering I'm a High Risk Pregnancy. Something he could explore upon and share with others, which I'm sure he already has done.

    A must have

This book is SUPER informative, with great photos of what really is going on in your body- male or female. I've had it for years, and just now am pregnant, and love looking over it and seeing where I am and what's happening inside.

Most intriguing photos of fetal development and child birth ever seen

When I was pregnant with our first child 7 years ago, I thought I'd just let my pregnancy run its course. Eventually, my curiosity got the best of me wondering 'What does the baby look like? Can he/she hear us? How big is he/she? What's happening to my body right now?' This book is one of the most intriguing books I have ever read. I practically read it cover to cover before buying it - it is that informative and interesting! My first daughter is now 6 and we are expecting our third child. She enjoys looking at the pictures with me and asking questions - almost everyday. I think even my husband (who doesn't want to admit it), found himself looking at this book secretly to see 'what's really going on.'

    Week-by-Week pictures and explanations

This book was extremely helpful for my entire family. Not only did it reinforce my own understanding of the gestation process, but my children LOVED seeing pictures of what 'their baby' looked like, each week of his development. They went to school each day, telling their classmates that 'the fingers are almost fully developed today' or 'the baby is 3 inches long this week!' The pictures are fascinating, and it really helps drive the point home that on any given day, your baby is developing something important. I recommend this book to everyone, to keep and to pass on. It helps the 9 months go by faster, when you know how much has to happen and how little time there is to accomplish it.

    OUTSTANDING PHOTOGRAPHY!!

One of the most beautifully created works expressing the mother's and the fetus' experiences from conception thru birth. The photography is excellent! Beautifully and accurately depicts conception, pregnancy, and birth.
