Child of Mercy was a little bit of a disappointment. Character development throughout the series could have been better and because of this I wasn't all that invested in the outcome. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. A fun, light read for paranormal romance aficionados. There were some one-liners in this story that left me in giggles (thank goodness for the ubiquitous Nook covers that my stuffy colleagues didn't know what I was -really- reading). There was some violence and a hint of sexual tension (this being a book about an unmarried pregnant woman and fallen angels) but nothing that would prevent this from also having a place in a parent's YA library for that YA/A crossover crowd. Was this review helpful? I wanted to love this book as much as I loved the first 3 and, for the most part, I did. I found myself rooting for Mercy throughout her journey; laughing and crying right along with her. But is this really the final book in the Fallen series? For such a strong, beautiful, and unique story I felt like the ending left way too many unresolved questions. The final chapter felt rushed, and after waiting so long for the end to Mercy's story, I was slightly disappointed.
However, despite my feelings towards the open ending, I still think this is a 5 star novel; not every amazing book can have a picture perfect ending that pleases every single reader.
Lisa Olsen is definitely an author that deserves more recognition. I will be on the lookout for more wonderful and unique stories from her.
